Hi,

I am scheduled to have the Essure procedure next week and was wondering if anyine has had it done and what your experience has been. Any side effects? I am sure that I want a permanent solution (I am 43 with 3 healthy kids), but worried about any side effects or efficacy issues. I scoured the internet and all seems like a good decision. I just need some reassurance. Let me know if you have had the procedure and how you feel about it. thanks!

I briefly thought about Essure but changed my mind after searching a little deeper for women who have had the procedure done. Anytime I searched for "Essure" I seemed to find only positive information which just seemed too good to be true so I did a search for "Essure Complications" and found that many women have had complications. For me, I decided that the procedure is just too new and reading about some of the complications...well it scared me even though I knew that for many women it has been successful. I know that you've received 2 very positive replies so far and I don't want to discourage that but I do want you to be well informed before moving foward with it. Here's one forum that I found when I searched. Good luck with whatever you choose.

My sister in law just had this done last month. She said that it was super quick and felt like little more than cramps the next day. Other bonus - it was charged as an office visit to the doctor so the insurance covered everything. She's really happy that she went through with it.

I had the procedure done 2 years ago. I had some cramping for the first week, and break through bleeding for 3 weeks. After that point I've had no issues and works great. I didn't want to become pregnant again due to multiple miscariages; this provided great peace of mind.

I had the Essure procedure done 7 months after my last child. I am so happy with the results. The initial implantation of the coils was unremarkable....no pain, no bleeding and no limitations whatsoever. You must follow up for a further diagnostic exam a min of 3 months later to make sure your tubes are 100% blocked. This test was mildly uncomfortable yet very brief. My advice to you would be to make sure that the doctor performing the procedure is experienced (ask for how many procedures he/she have performed). Overall, I am thrilled and have not had one single complication or regret. Check out www.essure.com for additional info or feel free to send me a PM if you have any further questions. Best of luck, Michelle

Make sure you aren't sensitive to nickel/metals. I had to have a tubal instead since I have allergic reactions to nickel.

Hi
Probaly too late- but I had the procedure in May and waited to go back for the xray. During the procedure on tube was scarred and it hurt putting the Piece- whatever it is called- in. When I went for my xrays/ultrasound in Sept only one side stayed in. the side which cause me the pain- fell out. So now I am 50% fertile LOL. I am not surewhat I am goign to do now. I have been putting off gogin back until insurance kicks in again. It cost a lot!
