My brother in law is seriously looking into attending a retreat/seminar through the Mankind Project called New Warrior Training Adventure. Has anyone heard anything about this good or bad? My sister is very apprehensive about it, as am I, since most of the stuff we have found online is quite odd and a bit scary. Just looking to see if anyone knows anything about it. Thanks for your help!

OK, the first thing that came up when I googled it was, Gay. I don't know if it is what your brother is a part of, however. To be exact I quote the website.

The New Warrior Training Adventure is a singular type of life affirming event, honoring the best in what men have to offer the planet. We are only able to recognize the powerful brilliance of men because we are willing to look at, and take full responsibility for, the pain we are also capable of creating ... and suffering. This is the paradox of modern masculinity, and it is a lesson we are dedicated to learning and teaching.

The New Warrior Training Adventure is a modern male initiation and self-examination. We believe that this is crucial to the development of a healthy and mature male self, no matter how old a man is. It is the "hero's journey" of classical literature and myth that has nearly disappeared in modern culture. We ask men to stop living vicariously through movies, television, addictions and distractions and step up into their own adventure - in real time and surrounded by other men.

Yes this is for Gay men, so I would consider talking to your brother about attending. I know of a "Gentleman" that attended it, and it was more than just a "social" event.
Hope this helps!

It's a cult-they appear to have a wrongeful death action against them.

I have a few male friends who are part of it. It is NOT a gay thing, it is open to all men. none of the men I know that are in it are gay. It is however secretive and protective of its ritual, which doesn't necessarily mean it is a cult, but raises everyone's suspicions about it. Don't expect your BIL to discuss what they do. Then men I know that are involved seem to have made a lot of growth emotionally and in terms of addiction management.

I have heard of it. My good friends, friends husband has gone a few times. From what I have been told it was a great experience for him. I would LOVE it if I could talk my partner into it. From what I gather it teaches them to be more intune with them selves. To be more open with their emotions and better communication. Who can't benefit from that?

It seems like a great place for spiritual growth. I can see why it would be great for gay men. However, it would appear those men took advantage of the program. I wish they had a place like this for women! Good luck to him!
