We are going to be heading to Lincoln NE in a couple of weeks for my daughters TaeKwonDo tournament and I was trying to find some other things to do while we were in the area. Has anyone gone to the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City? There is a hotel on site, the Lied Lodge, and I am trying to figure out if it would be worth a stay and if there is a day's worth of stuff to do there.
Thanks!

I have been there before. I enjoyed it but I didn't have kids to entertain. They have a website http://www.liedlodge.org/index.cfm that you can check out the different things to do. I don't know if it would be a whole day place but its not far from Lincoln, 45-50 minutes. You could always go for part of the day. There is a great CHildren's Museum in downtown Lincoln. I have been there with 12 year olds and we all really enjoyed it. They have areas geared towards older kids and then areas for younger kids. Out south at 56th and Old Cheney (I think) there is a miniature golf course. It has two courses. I think there is one on the north side of town but i have never been there. That's about all I can come up with. I lived in Lincoln in college so no kids at the time. Hope that gives you a couple of ideas.

I haven't been to the Lodge, but my sister said there isn't a lot to do for children, not a full day's worth anyway. I also wanted to mention Lincoln has a great Childrens' Museum and Morrill Hall on the University campus is a really cool natural history museum with dinosaurs, wooly mammoths, lots of interactive things. Also, I don't know when you are going, but the Lincoln Zoo is great for little kids. It's not too big and you can get up really close to a lot of the animals. It opens April 15. Have a great trip!

We took our girls ages 9 and 7 there last summer. I don't know what the lodge has to offer as we did not stay there. It took us about 3 hours to tour everything and most of it was outside.

We visited Arbor Day Farm as part of our school's spring trip a couple of years ago. We had ages 7-12. There's not a full day of activities, but probably 2-3 hours worth. There are places to climb, such as a treehouse. We had a educational program and a guided tour. They have a website that lays out much of what's there. The kids really enjoyed playing in this water table that had running water and rocks you could move to make waterfalls. There are trails to walk. Almost all of the activities are outside so if it's raining it won't be as good a visit. You might also want to stop at the Lewis and Clark museum in Nebraska City which is on the way to Lincoln. It has some nice interactive exhibits and a trail to traditional Native American lodges for this area. The museum is just a mile or so off of I-29 overlooking the Missouri River.
