I want to go back to school for the special education program, but i am not sure about the demands of special educators in utah where i live, i dont know how to find out.
Look at the websites of the districts in your area and check their job openings. I know that there are openings in my area if you want to move to Texas. :-)

Well, it's been awhile (about 15 years) since I was in the education field, but at the time Special Ed teachers were in very high demand in Illinois.
Where are you thinking of getting your degree? That would be a good place to start. There are usually websites with job listings for specific careers (ie, websites just for teachers, lawyers, chemists, etc). Someone in the Education Department at the college should be able to give you a website that lists jobs in Special Ed.
Most of the time there are jobs in Special Education... it is a very demanding job, (emotionally and sometimes physically), and there can be a lot of burn-out... (I work as a para-educator (Aide) in a self-contained special education classroom.....)
But..... demand often depends on area..... and what is in demand NOW may not be in demand 4 years from now.
At any rate, if you get your teaching certification in one field, it is usually pretty easy to add another certification to it.
I know my district is hiring many part time special ed aides this year. Most of the positions are for 1-1 aides to give personalized attention to individual students.
There is almost always a demand for SPEC Ed teachers everywhere. Check with the career services office at the university you plan to attend. They can help you find job listings. You can also check the human resources page on any school district web site. They usually have job listings available.
