We are completing the application for Happy Hills Farm Academy/Home for my son. I was just wondering if you have had any experience with this home that you could share. Or if you know of a local home/center that helps emotionally-disturbed children. My son has ADHD, Aspergers and is diagnosed Oppositional Defiant. We have 2 smaller children and its effecting all of us. He is under physician care; both Psychologist and Psychiatrist. Happy Hills Farm was recommended to us from his psychologist.

Thank you!

I know two people whose children have gone to Happy Hills Farm as well as people that have worked there (I have a background in social work and am a teacher). From everything I know, it is an amazing place--check it out. If your doc is recommending it, he/she must think it's a good fit. From mom to mom or professionally, I have never heard a negative thing about the place. Good luck

K.,

I've heard only great things about Happy Hills Farm; I've been impressed with reports about their philosophy and the center in general. My heart goes out to you. My son also has difficulties and I know this was a very difficult decision for your family.

Also, I participated in a bible study years ago with a teacher from Happy Hills and she was a wonderful lady.

One of my closest friends works there as house parents and they absolutely love it. They have teen boys in there home. All that she has talked about it sounds wonderful. I don't think any child who's been to a place like that is going to say they liked it...
I know that they even take one of their boys home with them on their weekends off, he has no family in the state.

I went to Happy Hills Farm, and i would not suggest that place to anyone! Especially for children that need therapy. I have my own issues with that place and the people that run it (or atleast did in 1996) but above that in the year i was there i never received any treatment with a psychologist or a therapist, the only thing was a group therapy session that was done weekly that really boiled down to us just ranting and raving about our life.

I could go on and on about that place........

Are you wanting a plce for him to go long term? Or a place to send him for a short time and get some help?

The guy I dated in high school went to Happy Hills Farm, I believe around age 9/11, I really can't remember anymore. From what he said about it, his experience was not a positive one. Even at 16, he had a lot of anger and hurt toward his family for putting him in that place, when all he really wanted was to be at home with them. I know I am only expecting my first child, but I saw how it effected him and would not want that outcome for your son.

I know a family who had their son go there when he was younger. It did help them out and the son as well, though it wasn't always easy. What really turned his life around was joining the military once he was 18. He is a super polite respectful person now who- at least as far as we can tell- controls his temper very well.

I am doing nutrtion response testing. I am finding metals in the body of the ADHD, autistic, and asperger's children. I give them a supplement to remove the metals. It is working incredible! Literally with in about 2 weeks these children change to seeming like they ae "normal". I am so happy and excited with what I am doing. I would love to help you and your family. I am a chiropractor in Irving and I can help!
