Have your children ever had any nausea with Agumention? I have already spoken with the doctors and they said it's normal with ALL antibiotics, but my daughter has been off/on antibiotics for ear infections for years and they have never caused her any problems. The past week she has has nausea off and on all day. The doctors said three days after she is off to call if she's still feeling bad. No fever, eating and going to the bathroom just fine and sleeping the same. Just curious if your kids have felt bad on it and then felt fine after stopping it?
Should note we give it to her with food as recommended and she's eating yogurt to help replace the flora that is being killed off in her stomach. Also we cut out juice/milk for a few days as recommended by the pediatrician.
Guess I'm not really looking for answer...just wanting to know if others have experienced this? I guess it could be a flu bug instead, but no one else is feeling bad and like I said, it's off and on all day - usually towards the evening time. At first I just thought it was the heat/being tired from playing so hard all day.
Augmentin makes me super nauseous. My kids have never taken it, so I can't say for them - but for me... I have a queasy stomach the entire time I'm taking it. I used to get sinus infections quite frequently and had to ask for a different antibiotic.

It's the augmentin. You are lucky it's just nausea.
My oldest has been very sick with it and can no longer take it.

Yes, I presume you're referring to Augmentin - that one is notorious for nausea... ask for a dif antibiotics next time. Hope shes feeling better really soon :)

Augmentin turns my stomach inside out and upside down. I eat yogurt before taking it, and that helps some.

Try avoiding dairy products other than the yogurt. That could help. When I had the same problem once the doctor suggested eating only plain yogurt. Yuck! But it did seem to help.

Nausea is a fairly common side effect with Augmentin. My doc told me that taking it with food would help, and in my case, it really does.
Next time see if there's a different antibiotic with similar efficacy that can be subscribed. Augmentin seems to be the "go to" antibiotic for stubborn ear infections, but it's not the only option out there.

I don't know about the difference in your daughter from then to now, but I always get sick with antibiotics. I hate taking them, even though I certainly do because I know what the alternative is. So sorry.

Augmentin is very hard on your stomach (all antibotics CAN be but in our experiences, this one is worse). The times my daughter has she's had it, we couldn't get it in her (she takes anything/everything else we give her)...three grown adults and we couldn't get a drop in her even by force. When my daughter has taken it (she felt that bad), she did eat with it in the evening and in the morning she didn't feel like eating and she would vomit anyway. Now the dr has it on her "allergy list" and they give her anything but Augmentin.
Ususually with stomach problems, especially vomitting, we have to cut out milk which is hard on her because she loves milk but juices are still ok (per the doctor).

Oh yeah!!! nausea and vomitting (including throwing up the Augmentin itself) even if it's with food...and couple it w/prednisone -- YUCK!!!!!
it's probably not some sort of flu bug thing ... last time my DS was on it (yes, coupled w/prednison--he's asthmatic and had bronchitis--fun) and was throwing up always after the augmentin and I asked the pedi to switch antibiotics after 3 or 4 days...and lo and behold his stomach was fine....
good luck

Yes, Augmentin is one of the worst on your stomach. My mom did childcare all my life & we dreaded when the kids were put on Augmentin. I remember one of the little boys got diarrhea really bad from it. Taking with food helps, but does not fix the side effects. When I had kids, I repeatedly told them they could give them anything but that.
I highly recommend consulting a chiropractor for your child's ear infections. Often times they can help, you usually will see instant relief & there's no nasty meds/side effects. Its your call but that's what I did for my son when I was tired of dealing with getting meds down him & then the side effects. Not to mention he had been on so many antibiotics his system had become reliant on them to fight any kind of infection.
