Has anyone had any trouble getting pregnant with #2? My first pregnancy was amazing and thankfully no complications. I have been hearing though that sometimes its harder to conceive after the first baby. Thanks mamas :o)

What can I do next?

Took a year of trying and no luck. Stopped breastfeeding and came up pregnant that next month.

I think everyone is probably different on this. I conceived #2 when #1 was 6 mos old and we were trying NOT to get pregnant. It probably depends on whether or not you are breastfeeding (I was not), but my mom conceived three kids while she was breastfeeding (I'm kid #4, my oldest sibling is only 4 1/2 years older than me). I'm sure your #2 will come along at the perfect time!

I understand your concerns. After getting pregnant without a problem with my first baby, I was inexplicably worried about conceiving the second time. I, too, had heard that secondary infertility was common. After trying for 2 months, I started charting my cycle again (which I did to conceive my first child), and we were pregnant the next month! My conclusion about myself is that I get a little crazy when I'm trying to get pregnant, and always worry about everything, even though I have no history to be concerned about. With my 3rd pregnancy, we didn't use any birth control at all and were pregnant again 9 months later (without charting).

Here are some important things to remember and hopefully they will help you keep everything in perspective: In your bio it says you have a 7 month-old beautiful baby girl. At 7 months post-partum, your cycles may not have returned to normal or stabilized, especially if you are still nursing. (I conceived both my 2nd and 3rd child while nursing, so I would never advocate stopping nursing to conceive, but you should be aware that nursing can suppress ovulation). Also, I'm not sure how long you have been trying, but you are not considered to be having fertility issues until you have been trying a year.

I am a huge fan of charting, as I've mentioned before on this site. I used Toni Weschler's book, Taking Charge of your Fertility, which was an amazing and easy roadmap to understanding how your body works, how to conceive, and how not to, if that is what you want. The two times I charted I was pregnant the first month both times.

Good luck to you, and I hope you get pregnant soon!
