Ambulance came & checked her, & said she's "likely" ok, heart rate & stuff was normal... but Im still freaking out. has your little ones done something like this & gotten a small zap, and what happened after, were they ok.... she seems fine, but Im not !

So What Happened?

Thankfully, she was fine. But she sure cried when we tried to use the hand vac next time, luckily it was intended for cleaning up the car so she wont have to see her enemy!

My little sister took an antique hat pin and barette and shoved them in a wall outlet. She MELTED them together...and all was just fine. She's loopy...but it has nothing to do with the shock...fairly certain it's genetic :)!! No worries.

Also, I sat on an electric fence as a kid - got the shock of my life. Last but not least...I also got hit by lightening through the phone, and all is well..at least on that front (relatively speaking of course, and depending on who you ask).

My cousin stuck a fork in an electrical socket when she was 16 months.. she got zapped hard enough that she actually got thrown. She is perfectly fine 22 years later, and has never had an issue.

I would suggest you call your pediatrician since you're still concerne. That's what they're there for! We're not doctors, so we can't really tell you if she's ok. So, call you're doctor! I bet she really is ok, but it's better to make sure, that way you are calm. Good luck!

All of my children have been zapped at one time or another. My youngest decided to pull off the front of her LED nightlight, exposed the wiring and chips and zapped herself that way; she had a small burn. One of my kids stuck a penny in the outlet. Another one stuck some sort of a toy in the socket and blew the fuse. We had black marks going up the wall on that one. I don't remember exactly what the fourth did, it was something to do with the plug of the stereo; my husband refereed on that one. None of them suffered seriously other than hey, that hurts! and they didn't do it again. The burn was very minimal; it didn't even blister. I didn't even take them to the ER over it although, I did keep an eye on them for a while just to make sure. My grandmother was an RN and I asked her advice. She told me what to look for to make the decision if they had to go in and they seemed fine.

I was shocked when I was little and just knew not to do it again. Unless your child has an underlying heart or neural condition, the current available isn't enough to do any damage.

My daughter did something similar, the paramedics came, checked her out and advised I take her to my pediatrician or ER just to double check her heart and also bandage her burn properly. She was pretending to plug in the vacuum and put a barrette into the outlet which blew the circuit. She was actually kind of old to do this (3?). She's fine, she has a healthy respect for outlets now ;-). It did scare her a lot and for awhile she held her fingers funny.

Scary, but I'm sure she'll be fine.
I was just a little kid, about 5, and we visited my uncles dairy ranch.
They had had us out feeding the baby calves and the other animals, etc.
Well, I went out to explore and dang if I didn't grab hold of the electric fence.
I didn't know it was electric because it wasn't on when we were all out there.
I got the shock of my life, for sure. I never said a single word because I was afraid I'd get in trouble. I wasn't burned or anything, I was fine. Just stunned.
I had no lasting effects.
I did tell what happened some years later. Long enough after it happened to be funny and I was too old to get in trouble.
Little kids who get a good zap once are usually pretty careful after that.

I really think your little one will be fine. Keep her away from the outlets.

Best wishes.
