It's the most wonderful feeling in the world and I remember missing my son moving inside of me for a while after he was born. There were times I could feel him flipping totally upside down and around, probably in the 25+ week range.
By the way, my son will be 18 next month but that memory is one of the best!

Each person feels something different. It depends on your size as well. If you are smaller person you are more likely to feel more movement but if you are heavier person because of extra fat or muscle you may not feel as much movement early on because fat does not have nerves in it. also you baby my not be a very active baby, nothing wrong with a baby that likes to sleep.
My son was very active. He was most active when I did my water aerobics. He moved right along with me. I felt almost like he was tumbling and straightening his legs. You will know. It is just a amazing feeling. God Bless...

I was the same with my first pregnancy....my doctor finally told me to go home and eat a good dinner and lay down on the couch after i ate and relax and pay attention to your stomach....and as soon as i did that i felt the little flutter. Before you know it you'll feel the baby all the time!! Enjoy and good luck!

It started at around 4 months with my baby. And as Dana says it's like "the flutters", like butterflies in your stomach, but you will start feeling it. What I used to do when I could not feel her move, I would drink Orange Juice and lay down for a few minutes. With that she would get all hyper and start moving a lot. Congratulations on your little one and get as much rest as possible, you will need that.

And pretty soon you'll be at the point where you'll be grunting in pain from all the pointy parts that keep jabbing you. It's awesome! Do you know if your placenta is in the front or back? Your Ob/Gyn should be able to tell you. If it is in the front, covering you abdominal muscles, you will feel a lot less movement than women who have the placenta in the back. You don't have any nerves in the placenta so when the baby kicks into it, it will cushion the blows and most of the kicks you might feel would be more against your insides and intestines (which can feel kind of like a cramp or gas pain).

butterflies in the stomach. or hiccups. if this is your 1st pregnancy then you will eventually be able to tell the movement. some women who are pregnant for first time don't notice until around this time anyway. if you have any worries or concerns contact your doctor.

I think I first felt my son move at about 23-25 weeks. At first it felt like a little flutter. It really is hard to describe. Don't worry as you baby grows the movement will become more distinct. You will even be able to see it. If you sit very still and just look at your bare belly you might be able to see movement.

My son moved the most right after I ate something.

Good luck and congrats!

I had a hard time with my first pregnancy. Someone told me to eat a good meal (or even a candy bar and juice) and then lay down on my left side. The sugar going through the blood stream can cause baby to move. She also told me sometimes you feel the baby moving and just don't know it. It was descibed to me as gas bubbles. It can also feel like a fluttering in your stomach.

If this is your first pregnancy then it is harder to notice as you don't know what to watch out for. The only way I can describe it is it feels like a flutter , imagine you have butterflies in your tummy and there wings are flapping against you , or the sensation of bubbles from soda. During the day when you are busy you probably won't notice it. When laying in bed at night if you keep still is when you are most likely to feel it. As the weeks go on (I'd say the next 3 weeks) you will start to feel more obvious movements , like a kick and even baby rolling over. As for other people feeling the kicks this won't happen until you are well into the 30+ weeks.

Hope this helps

I don't think you need to worry. In first pregnancies it is harder to notice the movement. People often describe it as flutters, but for me it felt like bubbles floating up, like in a glass of coke. Sometimes it can feel almost the same as when you have gas so lots of women think they just have gas (and maybe they do). In a few weeks you will be able to tell for sure. =)

It is a little different for everyone. I teach childbirth prep classes and my clients have different takes on how it feels as did myself. Some say it is like pops or flutters. I felt it was more like little pops here and there; very soft and you would only know if you took some time to sit quietly to feel the sensation in your lower abdomen.

It didn't start with either of my pregnancies until around 26 weeks.

A lot of people refer to it as the flutters.....kind of like when you're nervous or when you're a little gassy. That's honestly the easiest way to explain it.

Believe me, when they start moving, it's really not fun, so enjoy the amazing sensations while they last. Nothing like an elbow in the rib at 3am.
