Bad Experience: What Would You Do?

I'll try to make this brief. My children's dentist in Coppell referred us to a dentist in Keller for a root canal and braces consultation for my oldest child. So I called and made an appointment for yesterday, July 3rd. Both the orthodontist and dentist are in the same office so the appointments were made back to back beginning at 11:00 am. I received a call from their office confirming my 12:00 pm appointment!! I then called them back and told them that I was told 11:00 and even wrote it down. She insisted it was 12 and that I was told 11 just to do paperwork. Well I wasn't about to come in an hour early to fill out paperwork. We arrived 15 minutes early and completed the paperwork in about 10 minutes. I gave her my drivers license and insurance card. We sat and sat and sat and sat.....for an hour!! I then went to the window and asked what was going on. The lady at the front desk said that I'd signed in with the wrong doctor--the wrong window. The windows are side by side. The dentist overheard this conversation and was getting on one of the assistants about it.....right in front of me. I think she was trying to go to lunch and make us wait longer. It got a bit heated and they went to the back. A few moments later we were taken to the back for the appointment. Everyone was overcompensating, but never gave an explanation for the situation that occurred.

Now it turns out that my son does indeed need a root canal. ARGH!!! This office was very aggressive and set an appointment for tomorrow - Saturday. They even want to start working on his braces. I have never dealt with such unprofessonalism. At least not in a dental or dotor's office. I'm feeling uneasy about it all and am considering canceling and seeing someone else. My son is not in any pain and could wait another few days to a week before being see.

What would you do? Any referrals for another ortho and dentist that does root canals? We live in Keller. I usually wouldn't mention the name of the business, but just so you are forewarned, it's Next Century Dental in Watauga.

What can I do next?

I would definitely go somewhere else. I take my kids to Just for Kids there off 377 in Keller. Have taken them there for years and they love it. Our orthodontist is Dr. Bishop. He is wonderful and the staff is great. Several members in my family have gone to him and now my son. He has an office in Bedford and in Keller.

I'd go elsewhere! There are too many great dentists to choose from- no need to be uncomforatble, even if its just a little!

Oh my! Yes, I wouldn't go back. A great orthodontist is Robert Gallagher at Gallagher Orthodontics. His website is www.gallagherortho.com . He has an office in Grapevine.

A wonderful dentist is Roland Limosnero. He has an office (Heritage Family Dentists) in Colleyville AND Justin. He is wonderful b/c I am afraid of the dentist from a bad childhood experience and he and his staff has ALWAYS taken GREAT care of me and my fear.

E.,

I dont know if you canceled or not but if you did make sure you request his xrays especailly if thay did a panoramic. Most insurance companys will only cover this once every two years. I would just tell them that I want to get a second opinion and you will need your xrays.
