Becoming a Consultant for PartyLite, Tupperware or Pampered Chef - Need Help!!!

Ok, I have friends that are involved in Tupperware, Party Lite and Pampered Chef and I have been recently thinking of getting into one of them. I want to be able to stay home as much as possible with my daughter and soon to be baby (in June) I am looking for different ways to make this possible.
I guess I would like some *outside* input on each of these companies instead of my friends who want me involved and also get a cut for having me become a consultant. If you could give me some pros/cons to each of these, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, what is the time commitment like and flexibility, benefits to doing it..etc. I am not a naturally outgoing person and don't want to have to "put on an act" to do this! Thanks in advance for your help ladies!!

So What Happened?

Thank you to all of you moms that gave me the great advice. With your tips and talking it out, I have decided this isn't something I want to do. being I am not passionate about any of these businesses, I think it would be hard for me to have the drive and motivation to do extremely well (beyond the money aspect of it) I appreciate all of your helpful words!

Hi K.,
I do agree with the other two people who gave you advice. I sold Tupperware for about a year and a half. I enjoyed the time I had at home with my family as well as time to be with adults. However, as time went on with my business, I realized that many of the products I needed to continue doing parties were the same product, but just in a different color. Therefore, I was accumulating a lot of the same Tupperware product. I did end up using a lot of the main pieces, but not the odds and ends that were in the catalog for each season. I hope this helps. If you want more information, please let me know.

Hello K.,
Congratulations on your growing family and your decision to spend more time with your children.
I began my business (sterling silver jewelry home parties) a year and a half ago. Although I still wish I had more time, I'm able to prioritize and plan my business around my family needs. I appreciate being at home for my family and enjoying success in my business.
Although I don't know much about the specifics of the three businesses you mentioned, I do know that one of the most important things for you to consider is which are you/can you be most passionate about? It's a LOT easier talking to people about your business when it's something you love and believe in.
Do you have a strong network of family & friends to help you get started? Outside of the 3 friends you mentioned? Is there enough interest for more of those products with your other friends?
What sort of training and support is there in addition to your sponsor?
Also, be sure you understand if their are monthly, quarterly or annual quotas and any inventory requirements.
I, too, am not a "bubbly" person, but I'm intelligent, confident and love my product. Many of my hostesses compliment me on my parties and refer me to friends. The great thing about our parties is no formal presentation, just a fun open house that the women appreciate the opportunity to socialize with friends.
Have you attended parties of your friends? Do you like their presentations? Make sure you would be comfortable doing something similiar.
Also, know that the phone MUST become your friend. Unless you are the Queen of booking 2-3 parties at every party you work right from the start, you will need to make some booking calls, customer care calls and potentially recruiting calls. Some people just cannot get over their fear of those phone calls. But, once you practice it often, it becomes routine!

I've got other suggestions I'd be willing to share, just email me at ____@____.com, there is a Meetup group for home party reps that might give you some insight into the businesses you are considering and others.

Good luck getting your business started and best wishes for you and your family!

I agree with the other person who wrote, you need to like what you do and be able to sell it. I am with a company lia sophia, this is a great company because you don't have to do much it sells itself. I also like how fun it can be. Meeting new people is always a plus, getting out of the house a couple times a week and making extra money. You need to look and see what do I like? How much money am I going to make? Some companies you can make 15%-40%. With lia sophia you start at 30% and it goes up. Are you going to use the product? or will it sit there and collect dust. Look for something you like and it can work. If you have other questions please feel free to ask.

also I am in a moms group and we have a great site for you to look at other businesses

I sold Pampered Chef years ago and was able to stock up my kitchen. My Pampered Chef items are the ones that I grab first while I am cooking. I still enjoy hosting and attending parties. I have had friends try to convince me to sell stamps or other products but I figured that everyone cooks so P. Chef was a good product that everyone could use.

The fact that food is served at every show is a real bonus because people want to come! The food prep also makes the show go easier because you can get audience participation by having them use the tools!

Do you want this as a hobby or as a real source of income? It does take prep time during the day- more than I had thought but if you are organized it isn't too bad. There is also the need to bring products with you to the shows which can be a hassle because your fun tools move around a lot (in and out of boxes, etc)- but you might get those fun tools for free so is it worth it to you?

When I was in it you had to meet sales requirements to stay active but I don't know what those are now.

Hey K.!
I wanted to add another thought. I once was a distributor for a company called Christmas Around the world. I did that for 9 years and hated being gone several nights of the week. I wanted to find something where I could earn a residual income, something that was consumable and people would order every month and that I did not need to go out and sell and have to leave my family so often. I finally found that with a company called Xango. I was not required to "sell" anything, all I did was recommend this product to people and either they were interested or they weren't. It is a very unique product that is made from the mangosteen fruit. There is only 1 product. This product is changing lives helping people by not only as a prevention but also helping people with so many health conditions/diseases. When I first learned about Xango, a natural food supplement drink made from the mangosteen fruit, I'll admit I was very skeptical. It wasn't until I read all of the experiences of medical doctors and patients, and how this juice had significantly improved their health and quality of life, that I decided it was worth trying. If mangosteen provided therapeutic benefits for people suffering from a wide range of conditions and diseases, things such as: Acid Reflux, Arthritis, Asthma, A.D.D, Anxiety, Cancer, Depression, Fibromyalgia, Heart Disease, Migraines, Pain, Infections and so much more, then I too should see and experience benefits and I MOST DEFINATELY HAVE! I have been able to get off of 4 out of 6 prescription drugs for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Acid Reflux with this fruit supplement and my depression has never been better. if you are wondering how a product can deliver so many medicinal benefits, it all has to do with the miraculous power of
Xanthones-a natural substance found within the pericarp of the mangosteen fruit.
If you are at all intrigued, call me at ###-###-#### or email me at ____@____.com doesn't cost anything to talk and check this out. I am looking for 3 motivated, positive, self starters who want to be a part of a great team. Low startup cost, no quotas, no collecting money, no deliveries, no buying large quantities of product. We have great training to teach you the skills needed to succeed and will work with you as much as you will let us to help you build your business. Lets talk! You won't regret it.

I am a 24 year old Mom of 2. I currently stay home with them. To help with some income I am an Arbonne Independent Consultant and i have found that the availablity of making my own hours and being able to make as much that I want/need to make is awesome. You do need to find the right comany that fits you. I tried Avon and it...wasn't for me. I have a love of natural products. so thats why i fell in love with arbonne. I do want to say that you should pick a company that has "consumable" goods. that means they are used and people will need more when its gone. which bring repeat business. you can only have so much kitchen tools, tupperware and jewlery.
also you want to find a company that believes in you and that encourages you to better yourself. Not all companies are that personable.

I hope this helps. if you have anymore questions please give me a yell!
