Pretty self-explanatory - just got on the smartphone train & am looking for the best (preferably free) or ones that are worth it for a boy in Kinder & a 2 yr old girl. Focusing on reading, lowercase letters for him would be wonderful! Also, what are some ones that you have for yourself or just in general that you love? Again, preferably free!

iWriteWords has been the best $4 I've ever spent! My son learned to write upper and lower case letters and their sounds as well as numbers. It was his favorite app for over a year, and taught him so much!

I like Zoodles. It is free, my son loves to play. It links to Disney, Nick, and other programs. You get a progress report on what they have played and what educational categories it falls in to. Good Luck,

I am still looking for Apps for my 6 year old, so I may be checking out some of the suggestions you get. My 2 year old likes Peekaboo barn. There is a free one, but the paided one ($1.99) is worth it in my opinion. For myself I like Pintrest as someone else said, grocery iq, ip free (tracks my periods), facebook, nook and 7 words (both free and paid ~ more puzzles cost .99).

My son is 27 months and he likes the apps that cost money but they are only 99 cents or 1.99. His favorites are Tozzle (puzzle), Robot Lab (build a robot and then find stars), Park Math HD (fun math games), Toca Doctor (fix "broken parts on a person"). You can get a free version of Tozzle and Toca doctor to try. I had tried many free apps they just didn't keep his interest as long.
For myself I just recently got hooked on Pinterest. Beware it can take up a lot of time but I've found great recipes.
Have fun with your phone! I wouldn't trade iny apps for anything :-)

I definitley 2nd tozzle (which you can get the free version and then you can upgrade to the paid). My daughter LOVES tozzle (she is 3, almost 4 and has been playing with this since she was 2). She also loves ToyStory3 memory match (free). We are now starting to use BOB books, which I paid for to help with learning to read.
And honestly, your Kindergartener would love Angry Birds. Both of my kids play it (8 and 3).
