I am going to be moving to Brighton area mid November from grand Rapids. I have a FANTASTIC doctor here that I am going to have to leave... but he doesn't have anyone to recommend in the Brighton area. I will be about 6 months pregnant when we move there. Any ideas? Perferably a DO vs MD.... but if they are nice, gentle, and well trusted it doesnt matter. Thanks everyone!

What can I do next?

Hello J. ~ I go to a wonderful ob/gyn at U of M Brighton clinic..her name is Stephanie Young. I've been going to her for over 7 years. She is very thorough & will spend time w/you answering any questions. She has 4 little ones of her own & has delivered both of mine (9 months & 4 1/2). Very easy to get appointments...also have pediatrics (Dr. Rao is WONDERFUL) as well as family, primary, internal medicine, lab and radiology at this location.

The OB that delivered my 3rd child and will hopefully deliver my 4th is Dr. Thielking. http://www.healthgrades.com/group-directory/michigan-mi/h... My 3rd was a 10 lber and he was very calm and reassuring. He was fine with us wanting to delay till 2 weeks after the due date and go all natural.

He is not one to ask for a lot of tests unless your specific case deems it. Out of all the OB's I've seen I would rank him the best. :-)

His office is in Howell which is about 10 -15 min max from Brighton.(easy access to the interstate and major roads) The office is also right across the parking lot from the only hospital in Livingston county which makes it a shorter wait for the dr when you are in delivery. With my 3rd it took him less than 5 min to get in the door of my room from the time they called him. Then he stayed there the whole time I pushed. (some drs don't)

The staff has always been helpful and nice when ever I have called.

I would think that the most important thing is do they accept your insurance. So start with that question and go from there.

Another thing to think about is where they deliver. Some ONLY deliver in Ann Arbor or surrounding cities. (depending on where you will be living it could be a 30 min drive in good traffic which usually doesn't happen on 23 during daylight hours) So that is another question to ask... And consider how long you will WANT to be in a car with a paniced hubby trying to get you to the hospital BEFORE baby appears. :-)

Good luck with your search and congrats!
