My daughter is two years and half old and she has very sensitive skin in her face.
Could you recommend me a good sunscreen?
I live in Texas where we hit to 100 degrees in the summer :(

What can I do next?

My kiddos have sensitive skin as well. We use both the California Baby sensitive and the LiveStrong (previously ThinkBaby) sunscreen. The LiveStrong/ThinkBaby one is a little easier to rub in, but both have zinc so they do require some blending in. Both rate fairly low on the EWG database.

We use California Baby sensitive (fragrance free). My son had pretty bad eczema as an infant and has mostly outgrown it, but we still are careful what we put on him. We've had good luck with California Baby. It is kind of thick so it takes a bit to rub it in. It's SPF 30. They also have an SPF 18 lotion for sensitive skin that we use when we might just have some light sun exposure. That one blends in a little easier, but we haven't really tested it in hot hot heat.

We haven't had a sunburn yet with the SPF 30 version. And we haven't had any skin issues.

I would go with the natural ones like Kiss My Face or Badger. My son really likes the spray ones.

This is going to sound crazy, but my dd broke out with all the sunscreens (even the "baby" ones that said they were gentle as water ha!)

I started using Desitin with 40% zinc oxide on her skin, even her face. Yes, it's white, but it sinks in after a while. She could be at the beach all day and no suntan or sunburn. Zinc oxide is a great sunscreen and is put in many formulas anyway.

Our preschool uses Blue Lizard. They've tried a few and found that it works best for virtually all skin types.

neutragena had one that we used. frankly, so long as your kid doesn't react badly to it, whatever sunscreen you apply dilligently is the best.

Good luck to you and yours,

I would go to a whole foods store or a natural grocery store and get some all natural sunscreen. Usually the ones with zinc oxide in them are the best. My daughter is allergic to banana boat (breaks out in welts) and I am allergic to coppertone (I break out in a sand papery bumpy rash all over), so we can only use the all natural types. They put so much chemicals in sunscreens now and it's just awful!

Hello G.G. And other Moms!

G.G., I echo the moms who recommend the natural sunscreens. My son has sensitive skin as well and have found them to be well worth the extra cost (we live in Texas, too).

I also wanted to let ya'all know about a news article I read last summer. A child actually caught on fire while near his dad's grill. He was wearing the spray-on sunscreen, which apparently has alcohol in it.

Please be careful and have a fun summer!
