I have not taken Yaz but a good friend of mine started taking it a little over a year ago and has had hormone trouble ever since. She is not taking it anymore but still is trying to work through the lingering problems.

I don't think it's that new. I believe it used to be called Yasmine, and it's been around for probably about 5 years. Everyone reacts differently. It was recommended to me by a friend who used it for a couple of years and loved it, however, it gave me terrible migraines and nausea.

I am on Yaz and I love it. I My doctor recommended it to me. I was taking Yasmine and I complained that my periods were lasting 6 days or more and she recommended Yaz. I only have my period for a couple of days and it is very minimal. No cramping like I used to get and I haven't had any side effects. The doctor also told me that some women may not get a period and there may be occasional spotting but it hasn't happened to me.

I have not, and recently had to go off all birth control pills due to irregularity and mood swings after trying 3-4 different kinds. I feel worlds better since being off.

Ideologically, I question meds like this that claim to be some "super" drug. More and more is coming out about BC bills after the fact that call into question the integrity and safety of the drug (the patch as a recent example).

I also question BC pills that reduce the number of periods women get to 4 a year....I saw a gynecologist once who told me that if you don't get a period for 3 months (when you should be getting periods) you increase your risk of certain cancers. Pills like these are messing with the essence of what makes us a woman.

I tried it, but didn't really care for it. I used it for 6 months, and every month I had spotting between cycles. At first I thought it was because I was just going back on the pill, but I never had that problem with my old pill (ortho-tricyclen lo), and have since gone back to the Ortho. I have not had any spotting from the first month of taking the Ortho.

I also wanted to try Yaz because it advertises the help with the other PMS stuff (like moods), but I did not see any difference at all.

Yaz is wonderful! I was on it years ago, and I lost 10 lbs when I first went on it. On top of having fewer to no cramping before period, and a lot less bloating. Highly recommend it!

I have been taking Yazmin (same brand) for about 9 years. I have had no problems with it at all. i was perscribed this particular brand for a PCOS diagnosis...and have been on it ever since...with the exception of a couple years when I was pregnant and then breast feeding. I am not sure of the differences between this pill and others except the info packet states that it contains potasium. I do know that my periods are much lighter and don't last very long...3 days. and I don't have the PMS symptoms I used to have...tiredness & cramps. hope that helps!!

yes I have, but it gave me really bad cramps. So after two months I changed.

I use Yasmin, which is not the same thing as Yaz, though they are both made by the same pharmaceutical company. Yaz is supposed to be the only pill approved by the FDA to also treat the emotional and physical symptoms for those women who need this type of help (among other things). Yasmin has been great, only spotting the first month I began taking them, after giving birth. I will, after I finish my current prescription, try Yaz, to see if I can peg a difference. If your'e still on this website in a few months (unless you start using it before then) I will let you know how it worked for me. :o)

I actually tried it and have been on it for several years in the past when it was called Yasmin. I was taking it to control my migraines. It's great b/c it's the same level of hormones throughout the month so I took it continuously for 3 months and then had a period and then another 3 months, ect.

About the email below, my Ob/Gyn said that it can help prevent certain gyn cancers b/c it simulates being pregnant for periods of time which lessens the amount of times your body has to ovulate thus lessening the activity. Back in the day, when women were pregnant all the time, they rarely had periods and also rarely had these types of cancers that we have today.
