Be careful with ortho evra there is a thing about people having major problems with it and they have law suits going on.

Hi,

I used the patch for about a year and didnt get bad cramps. I stopped using the it though due to all the warnings I heard about it regarding blood clots and when I did put it on I like felt the hormones going through my whole arm or leg, whereever I placed it. It felt wierd. If you are getting bad cramps I would suggest you stop using it and check with your doctor.

Personally, I didn't like it. The first week was great, no side effects. The second week, BAM! I had all the side effects. I had this headache that hurt if I got up, so I had to slowly get up and realized I couldn't go up the stairs without this horrible pains in my head!!! I think my blood pressure shot right up and I have good blood pressure and it go t so bad I felt that I had to hold my head to prevent moving too fast. So, I got off it. Then I have tried birth control pills and they plunged me into depression and one of them blew me up like a balloon and had to stop taking them all together. This was my experience and I found out that birth control pills creates a thick covering in your uterus which is why women have difficulty getting pregnant when they wan to and you can conceive still, but the baby dies because it cannot connect itself to you. There goes a beautiful life. So, really you are not being stopped from producing an egg. So, that was when I said I will not do that. We don't get the full information about these birth control pills. I will pray that Jesus will give you His wisdom.

I don't remember having bad cramps while I was on the Patch. I do remember when they switched the adhesive in September 2004. I got a really bad allergic reaction to it and had a bad rash where the Patch sat.

That was enough for me. I switched to the shot.

I could not stand the patch, because it was like having a bandaid on all the time. It was so hard to put on perfectly and if I didn't I got all that sticky stuff and lint stuck in it too. I never had bad cramps with it, but it's not surprising because you get a higher does of hormones with the patch than you would with the pill. Plus, like the previous poster said, there is a higher risk of blood clots with them than with the pill. I stopped using it before this news came out, but I was even happier that I stopped after that.

I tried it for 2 months and I didn't like it. it always would get stuck to my clothes and rip off which if i didn't notice right away made me nervous and it really didn't seem waterproof like they claim. it was always falling off. It may be different for different skin types but it wasn't reliable enough for me. I did not however have any cramps associated with it.

I did. It was not a very good experience. After using the patch for several years, I started becoming very cramp right before and during my period. After that I started experiencing other side effects (ie, extra bleeding, leg cramps). I told my doctor and he took me off the patch.

Hey there,
I LOVED Ortho Evra and think it's just the better of the evils when it comes to birth control. The hormone level (I think) is higher than that of the pill so I would notice a huge shift in mood and achiness on Saturday evenings/nights since my new patch was always due on Sunday mornings. As for the week off, I would stay on the patch for 7 weeks and only get my period once every 2 months and did have really bad cramps those first few days. However, after about 4-6 months on the patch, the cramps eased up quite a bit.
Hope this helps!
