The Stephanie Plum numbers series by Janet Evanovich. Hilarious!
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
I can't remember the names of them, I read so many books, but the Author is Cody Mcfadyen. He only has 3 books, and the first two blew my mind! Some of the book was really hard core because it is a mystery/thriller with a pyscho thrown in there. It really gets your heart racing. If you don't get easily freaked, this is a great one!
J.- I'm sure you've heard about the "Twilight Series" It's for young adults, but my friend suggested I read the books because it was so good. She was right, I could not put it down! I'm not sure if you have issues with vampires and such, but it was more of a love story.
Right now, I'm reading the "The time traveler's wife" and it's excellent! Definitely worth reading.
Robin Hobb was one of my favorites. I couldn't put her books down. I am not one for fantasy and cringed at the thought of reading them (made a bet with my fiance to swap taste) but There were times I sat ALL day until I finished them. hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy was awesome as well.
The Other Boleyn Girl, The Twilight Series, The Diary of Mattie Spenser, Pillars of the Earth, One Thousand White Women, Beneath a Marble Sky, Q & A (Slumdog Millionaire - the book is way better and very different).
ADDED: Oh yes, and Little Earthquakes is an awesome mommy book. The characters are fantastic depictions of all our different mom friends and their parenting styles.
I just read a bunch of Novels over the summer by Jennifer Weiner, they are fun and I enjoyed them all! They are contemporary. I also read The American Wife which is loosley based on Laura Bush's life, it was really good!
Anything by Neil Gaiman - one of my favorites is "Neverwhere". He rights everything from children's books, adult novels and graphic novels (he was the wrote Coraline and Stardust which were turned into movies). If you want something a bit more serious, there is Cormac McCarthy - I loved "The Road". I am also a huge fan of the Twilight books. I haven't read it yet, but the other book Stephanie Meyer wrote "The Host" has gotten some raves from some of my friends. They are in the works of making a movie out of it. A book was recommended to me (if you like zombie stories ) "World War Z". There are so many books and so little time!
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
The first chapter/section is very tough but you need to read it to understand the rest. I've read it about 20+ times and my husband knows not to expect much out of me once I pick it up. Anything else by her (not from the early 80's) is fabulous!
I loved The Glass Castle, Middlesex, and The Other Boleyn Girl.
