Brain Shivers

Does anyone else suffer from brain shivers?

These "shivers" feel like the type of "in brain shimmering" that happens when one has a fever. One moves ones eyes and the feeling then "sounds" like a shiver feels. It sounds like, "nyiow"...over and over...Rather like a middle C guitar string reverberating. (Sorry, but that is the best I can do)

I have researched the internet and there seems to be very little writing about the phenomena except in reference to to withdrawals from psychotropic meds.

I have had the typical..."lightening shooting" feeling in my neck area on occasion ever since I can remember. I just think...DAMN that hurts!...and go on with my life. I am aware that neurologically I am a bit wacky because I have had just about all the nonlethal neurological symptoms that one can have ever since I was a kid....distorted visual perceptions; the occasional "voice;" "ringing in the ears" peripheral neuropathy that comes and goes. I am sane (whatever that REALLY means)..., I am fortunate that I do not suffer from hallucinations..., and since I have always had this type of neurological stuff happen, I have taken it in stride. I don't like it..but "dem's the cards" I have been dealt genetically.

I am just curious as the "shivers" seem to be getting more frequent. And yes, Of course I an tired. Who isn't? :-)

There is so much that we as a culture DON'T know about the body...I am just wondering if someone is up on this stuff and can explain to me what the heck is at the bottom of the sensation.

What can I do next?

Trust in yourself and ask out loud what you want the answer to with specifics. It will come to you somehow. Our body and other things are made up of energy and energy always moves and changes. Impermanence. Nothing ever stays the same. My brother used to tell me stuff when he was 13 about stuff happening in his head. Similar but not the same. Before 30 he was diagnosed with multiple things. Depression, blindness, and degenerative kidney disease and now has dialysis 3 x's a week for 4 hrs each. People didn't always believe him which I felt awful about. I have a lot of faith but not really a church goer. I have been amazed how many times I ask out loud and the universe or god has always helped arrange things gradually so I get my answer. I have specific examples if needed. You may want to do some grounding exercises to start releasing some of this excess energy. We tend to be like batteries and sometimes we're over charged or we need to recharge. Sit in a comfortable spot with your feet flat on the floor and imagine that you have roots. Release the negative energy to the earth and gather white light in your crown. It's just a visual to help with just sitting and breathing. Try it for ten min. a day, seek out a second opinion from a different doctor and or go get some energy work done like at Blue Mountain type places. They may have more answers than a regular doctor. You may have a special gift for healing or laying on of hands. Where you put your hands on your child or whoever and ask aloud for a specific request. Please have Joe's stomach feeling healthy again, etc. Maybe your shivers are a key trying to tell you something. I'm not sure but hang in there.

Try seeing a neurologist or chiropractor with a neurological endorsement (sometimes called a Neurology Chiropractor). I used to have these symptoms, but my chiropractor was able to fix the problem and I've been symptom free for nearly 9 years now.

Can you explain what you are feeling? I have had and get what my DR diagnosed as Neuralgia. It feels like a slow building electric shock, sometimes it's fast and quick, and sometimes gets to a point of making me close one eye and squinching one side of me head( It feels like the pulse from an electric fence)...I had a CT to rule out tumors & clots. When I get them, about once a year, my DR puts me on Gabapentin. Not sure on some of my spelling, but it works. If it lasts more than a day, please go see your DR.

Hi C.,

I've never suffered from them, but I've heard that if you're weaning off certain medications they can cause it to happen. If it's something new, I would suggest maybe talking to your doctor about it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help -

M.
