Bravolution! Who's with Me?

I hate bras. They are tight and constricting. I wish I were one of those people who can get away without wearing one. Are you? Or I wish I lived in an area where it was socially acceptable to not wear one. I'm a solid A and I wear an underwire for show, not really for support :( Sports bras are comfortable but they give me a slight uni-boob, kind of unbecoming when I go to a meeting or church or school function. I got fitted for some at Victoria's Secret and those were just way too sexy for me. I'm a simple plain girl! I wish we had at least one day in this country when it was okay to go bra free and not be judged, oogled or stared at. Sigh. The joys of being a woman, eh?

I want my FREEDOM!!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

*Aakk! Nursing boobs are a whole 'nuther story. There was no way I would go without one when I had my baby unless I wanted to be in pain all the time. And my nursing bras were SO comfortable and soft. I wish I could wear those instead, but they don't make them that small :(

If I were as small as you I probably would go ahead a skip every now and then. If I don't have support they would be down to my ankles by now. :(

I have always had big boobs, so I've already cried that river and moved on. I can certainly appreciate what you're saying, but these H/I cups need to be harnessed when I'm around other people. No need to knock out perfectly good eyes. Besides, I actually like the look of well-supported breasts.

My nursing baby is all for your idea, though. Even with my shirt up, he lets me know that he prefers that I even take that off.

I can't ride that train with ya'll. My girls need support and shaping. My clothes would not fit right without the uplift. I go from an hourglass to a pear without a bra!

I know a lot of people who don't wear bras but also don't appear braless - like that would be so bad ;)

You can hit a big department store lingerie dept and talk to the ladies - they know their stuff! (Avoid the young ones! ;) As Gramma T says, there are lots of camisole/tank top options that conceal but are much more comfy than a bra. It might be hard to imagine an extra layer during the Houston summer but I'm sure they have warm weather options. Also, there's a thing called petals to conceal any, ahem, nipple issues. Otherwise, there a lot of bras out there without underwire and that have nice soft fabrics for optimal comfort. Good luck!!

Do you have a Lady Grace store near you? They have plenty of practical bras for every size, and the women know how to fit you. They have some sexy things but they aren't selling sexy like Victoria's Secret. Tell them how you feel and see what they can come up with. Take a couple of your favorite tops with you and try different bras with different tops.

I'm a 34b so yeah, I can go without and do unless I'm wearing a loose tshirt because I think it looks weird. I live in southern Florida so I'm always in a dress or tank top and skirt. Both lend themselves nicely to not wearing a bra. I was a big C before I breastfed for a year. Then somehow I ended up with little ones...but they're perky and I don't need a bra all the time anymore...ahhhh silver lining.

A friend of mine had a lumpectomy and some lymph nodes removed and ended up not being able to wear a bra for several weeks - it was just too painful.
So she wore big shirts over small shirts for awhile to the office.
At Renaissance fairs, you get a lot of women wearing the fitted bodices and are worn over a chemise and a well fitting bodice is much more comfortable than a bra.
It tends to support from below better than hanging all the weight on the shoulders which can be a problem if you are big chested.
You can wear things that are too loose for people to be able to tell if you are wearing a bra or not.
I'm not comfortable going out without wearing a bra, but at home and around the yard a lot of the time I just don't bother (we're out in a soybean field and the neighbors horses and chickens just don't care).

I'm not with you, I hate going without my bra. My bras are very comfortable, and I think I just look better with one on. I wear a DD cup.

I often go bra-less because they're just too darn hot. I was at a little league game Thursday night and made the comment that I wish I was a guy so I could go shirtless and enjoy the cool evening breeze. Got some weird looks.

I'm a 34 B and can go without one, but since I'm always cold it's usually not appropriate for me to now wear one *headlights*! The most comfortable bra I ever found was a cotton jersey 3 pack at Sams - they are stitched to work like underwire without the wire - loved those bras. I think Jockey makes some comfortable casual bras too, and not too expensive.

I am a girl who HAS to wear one (36DD) and the most comfortable ones I have found are from Victorias Secret. Pretty plain jane, too. Full coverage body bra. Best one on the market, for me, anyway.
You just have to find one that fits well.

then do it. be a leader. who cares really.i guess i do because if your nipps are showing i find it rude and dont really want my husband looking or my little boy. kind of like a man with really thin shorts and you can see his junk! i would find a bra that was thin and separated the girls. some sports bras are separating and have two completely different cups. more like a swim top than a constricting bra. victoria secret bras are made for plastic girls i am convinced of it! they dont keep the girls right and squish them into the middle no wonder bras just the regular plain ones. although they last forever they just dont do the job! i need a job done!

Well just because you got fitted at Victoria's Secret doesn't mean you have to buy their bras. I find them expensive so just take that information and go find one cheaper, more comfortable and less sexy? But I understand what you mean, at the end of the day I am ready to pull that sucker off.

I use to have bra free Sundays. But after church of course I don't do that some much anymore. But you could proclaim that for yourself.

You needed to be around in the '70's. Back then they burned their bras. I could not. I wore a 32 C in 6th grade and did not feel comfortable going without. I will go around the house without one as 78 degrees is just to hot to wear one but can't afford the electricity if we set it lower. Now at a 42 G going without a bra in public is unforgivable. If you are fit right bras should be comfortable. Just because Victoria Secret measured you one way sometimes another bra will fit you differently. It is hard to hear but if you are a c or higher cup size you may need to go a cup size larger. Many people in an effort to fit into a prettier or store size bra get one to small to be comfortable. My daughter use to work for Lane Bryant and when she would measure a person a lot of the time they would still use a different size to get the bra they wanted. Even tho they could order the correct size and have it delivered.
