Does anyone have any suggestions on a good breastpump? Price does not matter, I would just like to find a good one that really works.

What can I do next?

Hi,

I really like the Medela Pump in Style. I got the one that goes in the backpack so it is very easy to carry and transport. It even has an adapter to use in the car incase that is ever necessary. I tried two others before I got this one (a manual pump and another electric) and this was by far the best. Medela also sells plenty of accessories and spare parts to make it easy.

Medela was what i used and it was a really good one. Everyone that i've talked to who also breastfed also agrees with me.

As if you haven't seen the name "Medela" enough yet, I type it again! They have a style to fit almost all pocket books. Talk to your ob/gyn to see what he/she recommends. Also, I've heard that some insurance plans will actually provide you with one if your Doctor deems it a "Medical Necessity" for you. I don't know if it's true, but my sister (know for embellishing the truth) SWEARS that two of her friends received the hospital grade pump for free through their insurance.

Congrats, and good luck. -Janell-

I hate to say this, but I had a very nice expensive breast pump, but unless my breast was absolutely full, pumping was never easy. I would get up in the middle of the night and pump to keep full so I could make extra bottles for freezing and make it a little easier to pump.

I used a Medela Pump in Style, and I loved it. I went back to work when my son was still soley breastfed, and I used this everyday. It was wonderful.

MEDELA!!!! Hands down. I bought the cheaper pumps and they tore me up. I paid $300 for mine (7 years ago) and it was the best money I have ever spent. I was able to get 2- 8 oz bottles in 15 minutes! Loved it!

I'm going to jump on the "Medela" bandwagon, too! It's the best. I bought one, but our local hospital has a women's resource center that will rent them...maybe the hospital in your area does, too? Also, if funds are tight, check with the County offices and/or breastfeeding clinics...if we hadn't bought ours, we could have rented one from them or they would have loaned us one...you could ask your pediatrician if he/she has any resources....

all that said, I'm glad that we bought ours...I didn't have to worry about it breaking, etc...and it was portable.

i used the medela pump in style backpack with my first baby. i had to go back to work when she was 6 months old and i used the pump for about a year after that. it's very portable, very discrete, and very effective. :) good luck! & you're awesome for pumping!

The Medela Pump in Style is the BEST breastpump - electric, you can pump from both breasts at the same time (though I didnt like that, made me feel like a dairy cow. LOL), and it has a really great adjustable pressure. Its VERY expensive if you buy it new - like $200 worth of new - which is a little much. My OBGYN suggest I get one used off of Ebay - all the pieces and parts are boilable and easily sanitized, and the pieces and parts seperate from the actual machine are pretty cheap at Babies R' Us.
My husband and I found one very easily on Ebay, and payed $80 for it as opposed to $200. I have since loaned it to all of my friends that have babies since, and it still works just as perfectly as the day I got it in the mail.
If you are uncomfortable buying one off of ebay, see if you can spend the money on a new one. They are the BEST - you wont find any pump that works better or is as comfortable as the Medela.

For something with power (plug in, battery, etc) Medella is by FAR the best and most recommended by Lactation Consultants!

Medela Pump in Style. AWESOME! Worked full time and breast fed both kids for one year with no supplements. Couldn't do it without this pump.
