I gave birth to my second daughter 3 1/2 months ago. I still have some sensitivity in the area where my epidural was inserted. It's not really painful, it just feels sort of bruised and sensitive to the touch. I don't think there is any visible bruise on the skin. I remember with my first daughter I had a bump at the injection site for a while, but I don't remember how long it lasted. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. If so, when did it go away? Thanks so much!
this is stupid in a way because its been 2 yrs now. but i actually get a bruise and extremely tender still where the insert point was. i had one with both my boys and it still acts up a little now and a again.
I'm not tender where mine was inserted last baby (last year) but I do have some neat holes that look a lot like black heads at the injection sites. I've had one epidural (which is two pokes, one for numbing and the other for the epi), one spinal tap (another two pokes) and a spinal tab patch (another two pokes). I look like a pin cushion!! When my hubby rubs my back at that spot he can visibly count them and feel a little bit of the bumps kind of like scar tissue. The tenderness should go away though. I believe our doc told us it could take 6 months for it to subside, but you may always be a little tender there. :)

Mine was tender for almost a year. Sometimes it hurt if I just moved wrong. The doctor said there was nothing wrong. It eventually just went away.
I had that after my son was born. I went to the chiropractor and he used a "stretching table" and the pain and discomfort was gone.
I think you should have it checked out.........make sure that there is no internal damage to a nerve or anything else it might have hit.........Sandra, I think you should definitely have yours checked.
Back pain is not something you want to have an issue with. Better to be safe than sorry....
Hi...I had the same experience. I've had an epidural 3 different times and experienced the same the you are feeling after I had my first baby, but not after the second two. It definitely felt like a bruise and extremely sensitive to the slightest touch, but no visible bruising. Mine lasted for over 2 years, which is not common, so I went to an orthopaedic doctor who did a bone scan and a CAT scan and found absolutely nothing wrong. Eventually the bruised feeling in that area went away. One day it was there...then it was gone. I did not experience that at all with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies. And even on my 3rd pregancy they poked me with that darn needle at least 10 times, and I still had no bruising pain afterwards. I guess it's just a strange occurrence. You'll most likely wake up one morning and it will be gone. If it does last a long time like mine did...give yourself some peace of mind and have it checked out. It never hurts to have it looked at, especially if it makes you feel better. Good Luck.
