Put about a tablespoon of flour in a bowl and toss the chips in it. It will keep them from sinking to the bottom.
My great aunt taught me a couple of years ago how to make a really good butterscotch cake. The first few times I made it on my own it turned out really good and everyone loved it and always ask me to make it on special occasions. But the last several times I've made it, the butterscotch chips keep sinking to the bottom and almost burning. I have no idea what I'm doing differently. I found a recipe just like mine on the internet and it said NOT to use instant pudding so I made sure not to, but the chips are still sinking. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. The recipe contains 1 cake mix, 3 eggs, 1 pkg butterscotch pudding, oil and water. I mix all indredients and spoon into a 13x9" glass pan and sprinkle the chips on top. Any tip would really be appreciated. Thank you!!

are you using a diffrent type of oil (canola, vegetable etc)? also whether or not the cake mix has pudding in it could make the difference, but the suggestions to coat the chips in flour should help too.
Try tossing the chips in flour before adding them into the batter.
Try tossing the chips with about a tablespoon of flour. It should help them stay within the batter instead of sinking to the bottom.
I've made this cake and my recipe says to make sure not to use a cake mix with pudding in the mix already. I always use Duncan Hines brand cake mix. Hope that helps! :)
I think if you shake the chips in flour first they won't sink.
