BESSINGS EVERYONE

If you had a broken bone or cancer would you be looking at self healing?
Are you kidding me?
I'm sorry but I can't even believe this question is for real :-(

Well I am not a doctor so I am going to agree with your doctor since he studied this type of stuff.

Natural is all good and well, but death is natural too you know?
I would think repairing (stitching up) a hole in his abdominal wall could very well fix the problem and he could be free from it for another 40 years at least or until he dies of an advanced old age.
Fix it up, get it done, and live a life without trusses and trying to keep his innards from falling out.

I don't think hernia surgery is that big a deal. If you are really worried about your doctor's diagnosis, get a second opinion.

Hernias don't go away with good nutrition. It's essentially his intestines or some other tissue poking through his abdominal wall, so no amount of "natural meds" or "self-healing" is going to fix it.

You can't heal a hernia with a good diet and essential oils. The only way to repair a hernia is surgery where they sew the hole back up in the muscle and move internal organs out of the way that could be poking through or getting caught and getting pinched which restricts blood flow and inhibit the digestive process depending on where it is.
It's a simple surgery that's done all the time. Of course it's not going to be fun while recovering but it's better than leaving it alone and not addressing the issue and having it cause much more severe issues.
No one wants surgery but the other options of being ill or dying aren't better choices.

treatment is determined on severity, so if the dr knows the severity and says it needs surgical repair then thats your option. if you attempt to treat it a different way, it may never heal or may heal incorrectly causing more problems. its best to go with the drs advice. if you don't trust the dr then get a second opinion.

I have had two inguinal hernia repair surgeries over the years. With the first hernia I asked my doctor if there were any non-surgical solutions and he told me there was no other way to repair a hernia.

Here's the good news. This is one of the most common surgical procedures done. Generally speaking it's very low risk and is performed as an out-patient procedure. With both of mine I was up and walking around later that day.

Obviously your husband's doctor is the best source of information but unless there are some complications it's probably best to just schedule the surgery and get it over with.

Good luck!

You do realize he has a ripped open muscle inside, right? And that his intestines are sticking through that hole? And that they are subject to injury, infection, and severe damage since they are no longer protected?

The most he can do is wear a hernia belt and hope the tear doesn't get bigger. No lifting, maybe no driving because even a tiny fender bender can cause more intestines to come through the hole.

It's a serious issue. If my husband had a hernia he'd schedule the surgery as soon as possible so that he wouldn't have more issues come up. It's that important to have surgery to fix it.

I guess my thought is if he had a broken arm that made a zig zag, could see that it was broken, and you asked if he should have surgery to set it and if he should have a cast, same thing. Hernia is that serious.

so you want lay people on the internet to second guess your doctor's medical opinion?
okay.
i too believe in natural meds, self healing and good nutrition. but i don't expect that these things are magic and will cure cancer, burns or hernias.
if i don't want surgery i'll get a second or even a third opinion.
from a doctor.
not from people i don't know on the internet.

Did you go to the appointment with your husband? If not, call his office and ask this question. If you were there, what did the doctor say about surgery. If he didn't talk about alternative treatments, there are none. The best source for medical information is medical professionals.

I don't think there is a "natural cure". He needs the surgery to repair the muscle.

Please let me caution you that you may want to go ahead and schedule the surgery sooner than later. While my husband waited for a surgical consultation his prolapsed (I think that is the word) and was in so much pain that he was taken by ambulance to the ER and the surgery was done on an emergency basis. Schedule the surgery on your terms.

The recovery is a long process. He won't be able to lift or do much for about 6 weeks. That was the only downside.

Usually the doctor refers you to a Urologist for confirmation and to see if there is anything else going on...Everyone puts them off for years or until they become so bothersome and then schedule the surgery. Best to study your calendar and decide when would be the most convenient time to spend recovering, next fall, beginning of next summer? whenever is usually a slow time at his work...unless there is something else that needs to be addressed, the specialist usaully waits until the hernia is taken care of before tackling anything else...

Delaying surgery can increase complications and severity. It will not self-heal.

This kind of surgery is common and routine.
