M.,
I am in a very similar situation. I moved to East Stroudsburg 7 months pregnant, and decided to keep my OB and hospital in Nj, since I was so far along. I am 32 weeks right now with the next one, and am delivering here.
I have spoken to a lot of Moms now, and have gotten mixed reviews about Pocono Medical Center as a delivery hsopital. Those who have had no problems or complications were satisfied with their experience, but those who have required any additional care haven't been. Specifically, NICU facilities aren't great, and I know a few Moms whose babies have been Medevac'ed out of Pocono to better NICU facilities, but they don't move the Mom, so you are at one hospital while your baby is in another.
I decided that since the hospital the Medevac to from here is usually St. Luke's, I'd just go there to begin with. St. Luke's has a hospital in Allentown and in Bethlehem. It is about an hour to get there, so know that in advance. But the facilities are first-rate, and the place is really nice. I use a practice called St. Luke's OB/GYN for my pre-natal care, and have been happy with them. You see the nurse practitioner there for most appointments, and she is really nice. They have an office in Wind Gap, so you can do most of your stuff there, which is a lot closer that Bethlehem is. They also work closely with St. Luke's Perinatal Center, so if you had any risk issues, like high blood pressure, or gestational diabetes, you can see the high risk doc in the same Wind Gap office building.
Other great hospitals around the area are Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Moses Taylor up in Scranton, and Community Medical Center in Scranton. The two Scranton ones are specifically known for L&D and NICU. If you decidewhich hospital you want to use, they typically have a list on their website of doctors that are affiliated withg them. Then you can pick a doc from that list, compare to your insurance list, and narrow down that way.
