I see the mother of one of my kid's classmates this Sunday at the Christmas performance. She offers congrats on my pregnancy, says I look great and points out that I still have ankles.

This pregnancy has had its spate of challenges, but canckles are one I have not had to endure. Did you have cankles? What were they like? How long did they take to go down?

just curious.
Best to all

Last month of my pregnancy my feet swelled something awful - I was holding a lot of water.
During birth I dropped 20 lbs and the following 2 weeks of hormonal sweating and breast feeding and peeing a lot had me drop another 20 lbs - fastest weight loss I ever had!
Once the excess water was out of my system my feet and ankles were back to normal.

I had them with my twins although I didn't put on much weight with them. Constricted circulation from a whole lotta baby I guess. Putting my feet up and relaxing wasn't in the cards with 2 young children to care for so the swelling would go down a little at night but come back in full force the following day. They went away within the first week of delivery.

My aunt has cankles by default. She just does not have ankles - her feet and legs just join. Oddest thing.

I had swollen feet and ankles only with my first pregnancy, and only after I had gone past my delivery date. I kept putting on water weight and my feet/ankles showed that. It was just they were puffier. I have very slender ankles naturally, and they just weren't defined. Looked thick. They didn't hurt or cause me any discomfort, just were unsightly I suppose but at that point I could have cared less :)

Mine went down once I had the baby. Immediately. Also, I just ended up wearing slippers because my shoes no longer fit once I was overdue. They sort of came on out of the blue.

i got that alot with both pregnancies. i didn't retain water with either child so many others commented that i still had ankles. odd thing to say to a pregnant woman but i guess its a normal comment to follow "your getting so big, are you ready for baby?"

I did not have cankles with any of mine but when I had my younger daughter (7 yrs old), I had what I called crocodile paws the last week of my pregnancy. I could still wear my shoes and my feet did not hurt but they were swollen. Crocs have those little "toes" and big pads of feet. Hated the way they looked.
