Hi Everyone,
My son is 22 months old and has very long curly hair and as much as I don't want to cut it, it's driving him nuts. I have curly hair also and I know people can mess up curly hair. I heard carnival cuts was good for little kids, it makes it a little more exciting for them. I am wondering if anyone has gone to the one at Lakeside and if anyone has a name of a good stylist, if possible with curly hair experience. Thanks so much! E.

I went for my son's first hair cut and found that they did an average job and were very OVERPRICED.

My son threw fits there the one time we took him. This was many years ago and he is now find for the hair stylist. We found he did better at that age at the barber with his dad then any where else. Then as he grew, he still likes Pete, but he goes to my salon and likes the pretty girls. He has been that way since he was about 4. I also agree that Carnival Cuts is way over priced. Try in Clinton Twp at Cass and Groesbeck "Hair Buzz", or over at 15 & Harper there is "Hair Razor's" all the girls are wonderful, but like Janice and Terry is the one I use for my hair. Also across the street from them is the Barber "Phil's" it's been a while, and it's a guy thing. All three are good and better priced, although I think Hair Buzz is like 10 bucks.

Good Luck.
Chelle

Hi,
I have always taken my son there (he is 3 now), though he doesn't have curly hair. The pros are: when he was little the fact that he could sit on the little horse (now fire engines and police cars) and watch his favorite show was a HUGE help. It was something familiar in an unfamiliar environment.

However, they have slowly changed. They now have racks of toys that line the center and candy down low. Which makes waiting to get the haircut VERY difficult. We are always taking something out of his hands and saying no. He gets to spin the little wheel after his haircut to get a little trinket and a sucker (which, frankly I wish they wouldn't give him). We are going to try my husband's barber next time, which I KNOW will be unpopular because he LOVES going to carnival for the sucker and trinket ... but I don't think it is worth the fight anymore.

So I guess the moral of the story is ... if you go now ... you might regret it later, though at his age, he will most likely enjoy it.

I've been taking my son there for a while now. His hair isn't curly, but Marianne does a good job every time. I have really curly hair too, and I know people can mess it up easily.
