OK, Santa REALLY delivered in the Hot Wheels department, so for his January birthday I 'm thinking some carrying cases/organizers for all these cars! Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I think we're going to go with T P's suggestion, i don't know why I didn't think of it! We have this http://tinyurl.com/7vs9pg4 and this http://tinyurl.com/862drxw for his dinosaurs so I think we'll get this http://tinyurl.com/6qx54mp and this http://tinyurl.com/72xmjnf for the cars. And maybe ONE of the HotWheels wall storage things for the cars that work best on the Wall Tracks.....

Check Amazon.com for Hot Wheels Zip Bins. There are a couple of different styles. We got one for our son for Christmas and he really likes to play with it. It works as a bin to store cars and also unzips, so it can be used as a playmat.

we did 2 things for storing organizing our kids rooms. storage #1 was a shoe bag on the back of the door with clear pockets. kids could easily find what they were looking for (cars, action figures, barbies, doll clothes, art stuff, video game controllers and games etc) the storage option #2 was a long rubbermaid container under the bed that pulled out it held legos , train track stuff, action figures and race car tracks and cars good luck

The Hot Wheels cases seemed over priced. So instead we used a plastic tackle box. The smaller clear plastic kind with all the slots for tackle. You can adjust the length of the slot. It's very similar to this one. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Plano-Deep-Stowaway/16351077 We paid somewhere around $5 for it. That worked great at a fraction of the cost. And he could open it with no problem at all. When we ran out of room, we simply picked up another at Walmart.

I have 3 or 4....a couple rolling and just Matchbox Carry Cases.

I'm going to be listing them on ebay and craigslist. So that's what I would do - is look on craigslist or ebay....if you need new - Toys R Us usually carries them as does Target and Wal-Mart...they don't have that many - I don't know why - but they don't seem to keep them in stock.

Imagine having 3 boys with at Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars a plenty. Each of them had a storage case of some sort but they would almost never continuously keep their cars in them. Plan B was a few plastic shoe boxes spray painted the lids in their favorite color. That seemed to work well with the actual storage bins for the cars.

Buying them used is probably a good idea. Look for them now because in January Toys R Us has next to no stock in their stores. Good luck and be blessed.

Trash can works well. :p Just kidding though a few made it in there when I tripped over them. :(

My son used to have a rolling suitcase type thing that held around a hundred. He is 23 now so I am not sure if they still make them.

Your son is far more likely to pick them up if he can toss them into a clear plastic tub with a snap-on lid rather than putting them individually into the car slots in the cases made for HW.

I just saw a really neat one at Target yesterday! It looks like a big plastic tire and it's "hubcap" spins, but it opens on the front AND back to hold a total of 72 cars. It wasn't *that* big and stood upright, so it would be easily placed on a shelf or in a toy box with all the dozens of little cars tucked away inside.

Hope this helps!

One of my brothers gave my little guy (3 in April) 45 of the coolest Matchbox cars, but had no carrier. I looked pre-Christmas and thought they were too expensive (if I could find them) and am going with a clear plastic tackle box to take with him, or a tub with a lid for storing at home.

Whatever you decide, I don't recommend the Hot Wheels case that looks like a giant wheel. My kids don't have the hand strength to open it, and taller cars don't fit into the slots.

The rolling Hot Wheels case seemed to hold up the best for my son. We also have the round one with the spinning hubcap, it didn't stay closed very well when full and the hinges were not very durable. I'd stay away from the 2-sided variety because of that.
