Hi -

I'm in the wedding industry, I make desserts. Check out my website:
www.myla-concepts.com
I've don centerpiece arrangments, one at each place setting, etc.

Edible arrangements are very popular because food (especially candy) can bring in alot of color in an inexpensive way. And the more that people eat...the less you have to clean up.

Fruit is also good for arrangements. For instance, if the brides color is green - prepare pears, limes, grapes in a bowl. Simple and elegant!

Rent centerpieces from $15 each, I work with any size budget. Check out my site www.treadwaydesigns.webs.com I would love to work with you. My most popular reception of must have is a dessert/candy table. They are very popular and you can just rent the tables/linens/vases/jars and fill yourself or we can do everything for you.

Wish you the best of luck.

Needs:
tins - I bought these at JoAnn's
pre-wired floral sicks - Garden Ridge
floral faom bricks - Garden Ridge
magnolia leaves, straight off the tree and soaked in water for at least an hour
curly willow - buy at Michael's or Garden Ridge
votive holder - bought at Garden Ridge $1 a piece
sand - color of reception at Garden Ridge
votive candle - unscented so you don't overpower your guests

Make day before reception.

You can either get all of the same shape and size tins, or different colors and shapes. Just depends on your taste.
Cut floral foam blocks and place in the bottom of each tin.
Fit the votive holder in the center by digging out and pushing into the foam.
fold leaves in half into loops being careful not to break them or crease them. push the wire through the ends you have brought together and wrap the wire down the stick. Push the sticks into the foam around the votive holder until the tin is filled.
cut pieces off the curly willow and place in different places in the leaf loops.
pour sand into the votive holder and place candle in the sand. pour sand around the candle until even with the top of the candle.

My sister in law did something that turned out really great...but I was skeptical when I heard her plans, She bought a plank of wood and had my husband cut it into little cutting boards using a bit to make the edges rounded. The whole family was in the garage sanding them with her...she didn't bother staining them. She bought bread from La Madeline's. She cut the loaves in half and placed them on the cutting board with some cheese. She added votive candles to the table that she bought at the dollar store. It actually turned out really pretty, cheap and practical...everyone was snacking while waiting for food. It was a late reception and no one worried about how long the meal was taking. Afterward she gave away the boards to family and friends.

I have had a few of my wedding clients use pictures from the Engagement Session I shot with them and put them in frames as a center piece. I also offer cut out statue's that make for a cute center piece.

I will be making the centerpiece arrangements for my reception in June. I went to walmart and purchased hurrican candle holders and blue sand. I will be placing white candle (unscented) in the holders and will pour the sand around it. I will be putting the candleholder on a tabletop mirror and will sprinkle rose petals around the base. I spoke with the location that our reception will be at and asked if they would like to keep my decorations and give me credit on my final bill and they said yes. You might want to check on that if it might be an option. I did not want to get stuck with 20 lbs of sand and 19 candleholders :)

We were on a tight budget for my wedding reception also. We did all the decorating ourselves. We got glass "fish bowls". You can find them in the walmart craft department, or at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. And we got some of those glass rocks you can also find and any craft store. You put the rocks in the bottom of the bowl, fill the bowl with water and get gerber daisies (one large daisy per bowl). You just cut the all but about an inch of the stem and let the daisy float in the water. They come in many different colors. We also put a round mirror under the bowl and some tealight candles around the middle of the tables. This is very easy to to, very elegant, and very inexpensive.
