Cheerleading Fundraiser Ideas

Unless it is a school funded (or some other program funded by tax payers) I see no reason to 'fund raise'. Why not each parent just pay for their child's uniform?

Since the girls on the team are so young, I would skip on the car wash. Even with high school kids doing most of the work, they really don't make that much $.. The ONLY time I can remember pulling a significant profit on a carwash we had a alumnus of the school write a check for $1000 just because they wanted to support the school....had nothing to do with getting his car washed.

I also recommend looking into the restaurant nights. Chuck E Cheeses is another restaurant that will share a portion of their proceeds. They ususally will plan these on nights they are slow and depend on your group to bring in patrons, but its still easier than a car wash!

My #1 recommendation for you is this, make sure you have someone trustworthy who will oversee the funds and make sure they are distributed fairly among the teammates. We were on a competitive team with a pretty complicated system of contributing to the fundraising efforts and then receiving your portion, I never felt like I received as much as I had earned. I would've preferred just writing a check for the uniforms and leaving the fundraising to the rest.

Welcome to Cheerleading! Is she on a competitive team? Most competitive teams have a parent group with fundraisers set up much like we do in the school system.

My daughter will be a Sr. this year and is the Captain of the cheer squad. We work closely with the school PTSA and cheer booster organization. She does not cheer competitively, not enough time in the day!!

Do you have the 501c3 forms? Tax number? W-9?

Many corporations who donate want to see one or all of these forms.

Our major fundraisers are done... we sell advertising to go into the football programs that are sold at each game. Last year our booster club alone received $50,000 from that. The entire group of PTSA and boosters brough in over $250,000 in sales. It is a HUGE fundraiser.

We sell game day t-shirts so everyone from school, etc are dressed alike at certain games. This is done before school is out.. sell packages of shirts, deliver at schedule pickup. Corporations sponsor the shirts so it is 100% profit. We made $5000 on this last year.

Tailgate party.. We spent about $50 maybe on supplies and the rest, food, dessert, drinks were donated. We sold tickets and made over $2000. The sponsor was Carrabbas and they did a GREAT job. Market Street, Corner Bakery and Whole Foods are also good supporters. We always have a tailgate party and schedule it when it is a great game, news coverage, and strike a deal with the football boosters for the best bang for the buck.

I realize your group may not be as large and may not be this focused on the incoming funds.

On a smaller scale, you could sell t-shirts, some groups "work" at Sonic and get tips plus a portion of the proceeds for the time spent working, Sometimes McDonalds, Chick Fil-et will have a fundraiser night.

I don't know what companies you are looking at for uniforms. There are so many to choose from. We currently work mainly with Varsity. Cheerleading.com is in Garland, Teamleader is in Plano if you are looking for some more local places.

If you need contacts for graphics and t-shirts let me know. Our girls designa lot of their own shirts on www.customink.com and then get a local place to print. Shirts can range from $5 each and up.

I had a cheerleader stop by selling cookie dough last week. I am not fond of the selling door to door.

Check writing campaigns work well too.

Skip the car wash, it's hard to make money that way. My 6 yr old son's baseball team has sold Scentsy for a few months, we've made over $500 so far. The best one we did for my older son was a lotto bingo thing. You sell 6 numbers for $5, we had 11 kids that sold $100 each, pay out was $300 and the team kept $800. Every Wednesday and Saturday the team mom checked the numbers against the lottery and whoever matched 6 first (across several days) won the $300.

We have also done garage sale, football squares, and bake sales.

A friend of mine who's daughter is in competitive cheer set up an online auction via facebook. She put all the pics in an album on FB and put the info with each picture. People bid by commenting on the pic of the item. She tapped into friend resources and got people to donate various gift items, restaurant gift cards, services (hair, photography ,etc) for the auction. Seemed like it went pretty well.

We made a lot of money doing family portraits. Olan Mills has some information online. It's pretty quick and easy. Just make sure the person in charge of it is very organized.
We also had really good luck with getting businesses to sponsor a child and have their name put on the back of a t-shirt. It gets their name out in the community. (there's forms that you can use so that the company gets to use it as a tax write off)

I always pass on car washes but good luck with it if you have it.Are you wanting to do catalog sales like candles,cups, dips?Google fundraiser you'll get lots of info you can also ask for packets to be sent or look it over online at their website.I know most of it is junk but there are some good ones out there.I'm just thinking what kind of cheerleading is this she is 6 yrs old?

Also we do a lot of "dine and donates". You set it up with a restaurant so that for everyone who brings in a flyer, the restaurant donates 20% of their bill to your organization. Very easy to do.

Bake sale.

A business that I work offers a free fundraiser for clubs, churches etc. They are all products that people use. You don't have to purchase anything. We even give you the website, you just spread the word about your website, they look at the services and sign up and you make money. If you would like to check it out pm me and I'll send you the info.

Also you can keep the website and continue to make money all year long. I hope they do well. We will enter competitive soccer in a year and I'm dreading the fees already.
