Chicago Downtown or South suburbs...advertising Agencies or French Jobs?

I have a friend who recently moved from France. Her husband, a childhood friend and an American, died suddenly last fall of H1N1 complications in Paris. She has just relocated with their 3 children to be closer to his mother. She's looking for an assistant account position, or something similar, at an advertising agency. She's also French and speaks English fluently, so she could just as easily take on a bilingual or translator job, as well as teach French to kids or adults. Any ideas as to pointing her in a right direction? I'd love to help her, even if it's just via networking. She is a strong and brave woman doing so much of this on her own without having planned it this way. Her experience speaks for itself, so if you know of an ad agency, hiring or not, I'd love to pass along a company or contact name to her. Thank you in advance.

She might try the Alliance Francaise in terms of teaching. I think they appreciate native French speakers who know English well. I hope things work out well for her and her children.

She should check out the Alliance Francais in Chicago. They would be able to point her in the right direction and it might also be a nice network/community for her and her children. They have great programming.

I would connect her with the Alliance Francaise or even the Lycee Francaise (French school). You never know if it might help! Good luck.

I wish I knew an ad agency to pass along but I don't. If she is open to a translator or teaching job using her French skills, I would contact the language schools and translation agencies in her area and downtown. There are also translation organizations both local and national with local chapters that could be helpful. I would recommend CHICATA (Chicago Area Translators and Interpreters Association) or ATA (American Translators Association) to start - their contact information would be on-line.
Best of luck!
