Recently, I moved my 9 month old son into my 2 year old daughter's bedroom. How can I make the transition for them easier? My daughter keeps waking my son up and vice versa and I am losing sleep over it! Help!

I haven't had this problem because my kids have all been heavy enough sleepers that they baby didn't wake them but, what if you put them to bed with some sort of white noise you could leave on all night. Maybe it's jarring her awake to go from silence to a baby crying. Not sure if this will help but it's all I could come up with.

I would say stay with it they will eventually get use to it. However, we went through the same thing in our little 2 bedroom apartment and after "staying with it" for 4 months our whole house was still taking turns waking up at all hours of the night. I'm sure they would have gotten use to it but those 4 months were not worth it to me. Now that my youngest is 2 I just moved my boys to share last week and it is already working like a charm. I'd wait until the baby sleeps through the night first. Whatever you decide try to make it as pleasant as possible so neither of them are getting off on the wrong foot by going down in a bad mood.

i have a 3year old boy in the same room with a 20 month girl. i know it sounds wrong but she will not go to sleep with out her brother in there. i had the same problem starting out. i used a fan. the fan covered up all the other noise and they slept perfect. you can even vaccum if you have that fan running!

Are you putting them down at the same time? If you are you should try to let your daughter stay up a little later or start putting your son down a little earlier. When our kids were sharing a room we put our son down first and let our daughter either lay on the couch or in our room until she fell asleep then we put her in their room so we did not have the problem of them waking eachother up. It worked for us but it really depends on how you feel about doing it, we would turn off the TV and lights and rub her back and tummy for about 10-15 minutes and she would be asleep, then we would wait about 10-15 minutes before putting her to bed, just to make sure she was in a good deep sleep.

My first two kids are a year apart so we had the same issue a while back. They used to stay up and giggle and play and keep each other company...but after a few days they got used to it and learned to go to sleep. The younger of the two still to this day wakes up sometimes at night crying and the oldest just sleeps right through it. It will take time but they will get used to each other and get over the excitement. It took us a couple weeks for the newness to wear off. Just dont give up. It will suck at first trust me! But you will feel like you accomplished SO much when they finally get used to it. It IS an enormous task! Good luck!
