Stanley lasts forever but is pricey. If you could put the word out to people who have grown kids, you could probally get a solid wood set they no longer use for $200. Here we had this happen several times and I bought some for my niece.
Can anyone recommend an affordable but quality place to buy children's furniture? I want something that will last but doesn't cost a fortune. I found a set I love from Pottery Barn Kids, but it's $2500 and very basic. That seems insane to me. But the other stores I have gone to are not that much cheaper and the quality is so poor. Just wondering if anyone has furniture they're happy with that didn't break the bank. Thanks!

we got ours off of craigs list. I dont mind used, the only part of her bedroom set that we bought new was the mattress. One of her dressers we actually got from the area in our old apt complex where people threw out big items, I cleaned it and repainted it, added some girly stickers and it was better than new!
Craigslist often has really good deals, if you don't mind used.
Not sure if have a costco there in MI, but we just got an entertainment center from them for a very resonable price and its great quality and came fully assembled. The Costco warehouse has a small selection of furniture, however, if you go to their website, you will see many more choices. good luck.
You might check JC Penney... They seem to have Pottery Barn knock-offs that are very reasonable.

Actually there is...My neighbor had purchased her kid's bedroom sets from Ikea, I was in shock! Great quality and very afforadable! I don't know if there is one out by you, we have them everywhere in Illinois, I even have friends that come from Wisconsin to shop there. But in my opinion, don't spend too much only because they are still kid's and will probably mess it up, crayon markings, scratches, etc! Good Luck!
What about IKEA? The quaility is not the best, but it's decent. My experience has been that they offer a good value.
Ikea - if I had $5K I'd stock my whole house with that store's items!!
