Chimpanzee Movie

There are scary parts. The rival chimps tribes fight and my 5 year old knew exactly what the chimps were eating...and it wasn't bananas! A two year old probably won't pay that much attention, so probably fine. Just realize that there are some tense moments and some very sad moments.

I don't think it's 2 year old material, or length, personally. It's footage of chimps set to a narrated story for over an hour. I don't see a 2 year old being interested in it for any length of time. My 6 year old got really worried/scared during a pivotal scene in the movie.

I took my 6 year old twins and it is so cute!! There are a few scary parts, but he will not know what's going on--- my girls didnt. They are not violent or graphic what so ever. Most of the movie is very calm, cute, showing him learning to eat, play etc... with his mom. I am sure your 2 yr old will not understand the story line, but he will enjoy watching the chimp play, swing from trees etc. I liked it and my kids LOVE animal movies, so go for it:)

My seven year old son got kinda teary eyed when the chimp was separated from his mother. There are no scary parts.

Took my 3 year old. I thought it was great but she was chatting the whole time. Others have already mentioned the possibly tough parts (spoiler: chimps eat a colobus but they don't show any blood; mama chimp dies). My DD didn't fully get it. I definitely recommend go seeing it but being prepared to leave if you have to :D

We started taking both of our boys to movies at 2 1/2, and they both have no problems sitting through an entire film. If he has a good attention span, he'll probably be into it for the whole time -just always be prepared to leave if he's not (that's the mindset we take). We also let them have a treat and bring their "lovey" if they have one.

The movie is rated G, so it should be fine for anyone. Scariness and sadness are part of life and part of most good stories, so I wouldn't start trying to shield him from it now -if you dole it out in age appropriate levels, then he'll be able to handle it!

My almost six-year-old daughter cried at one part. (SPOILER ALERT:
The baby chimp's mom is killed in an unpleasant way -- not shown -- and he's rejected by most in the tribe/group.)

I don't think a 2 1/2 year old would enjoy this one.

My boys are 2 1/2 and 5 1/2. We saw it yesterday. Both boys love the experience of sitting in a theater, having a cup of sprite (only special occasions), sharing some popcorn, and watching a big screen, so their attention span is good. They both loved the movie (I did too, actually--it's a beautiful place, footage you don't really get to see in real life, and I thought the cinematography was excellent). We went to the first show in the morning, before lunch, on a week day so we had the place to ourselves and I could quietly comment or lead them to think about it (comments, questions) as they were watching it. Glad we went! The boys love monkeys.
My 2 year old did well, but he did start getting a little fidgety the last 20 minutes because it was fairly long, but I just kept his popcorn cup full and broke out the "emergency" skittles. That keeps him seated, quiet, and happy during a movie and I strongly suggest having that little emergency stash if it's too long.
If you're cool with possibly not seeing the "whole" movie, another option I used to do with my first child when he was really little was taking a bathroom break and walk down to the arcade and play a game, then walk back to finish the rest of the movie.

I don't think it's appropriate. My 3 year old got pretty scared at certain parts. In fact, we didn't make it through the whole movie.

We took our 5 year old son. We all liked it. No scary parts at all~
