Every year we send out picture cards for christmas. I'm wondering...is it kind of strange to haveh our picture on there be from this summer (all wearing summery clothing, taken outdoors in the sunshine etc.)? I feel like most christmas cards around here people are in sweaters, santa hates etc so wondering if this looks a bit odd. Its just a good family pic :)

What can I do next?

We got one from a friend last year with the whole family on the beach. They added the caption "Warmest Wishes". We thought it was really cute.

We receive lots of "vacation" photo cards, and we have sent out a few as well. I love it!
I think the best photo cards are those of families smiling and having a great time together, be it in the snow or on the beach :)

No.
Nothing wrong with that.
Photo cards, can be of anything.
Even just your pet dog.
Meaning, some people don't have kids, and their Christmas card photos is of their pet dog. Or just of themselves.

Here in Hawaii, well, no one wears 'winter' clothing. So their photos is of them even surfing.

No, I don't think it's strange, I see if from time to time. Remember, many of the people you send christmas cards to are people who rarely see you. Part of the point of the card is to tell them how your family's year went, so a picture from any part of the year is ok, especially if it depicts an event that happened during the year.

No, I would much rather see a photo from your real life than a posed, planned winter shot.

I think any family picture is great. Over the years we have received many different family themed cards from all seasons of the year. Enjoy the holidays. :) Don't stress...

I've gotten cards from people's beach trip. Makes me long for a vacation when I see them!

When we lived overseas, we had pictures made in wonderful places and used those pics for our Christmas cards.

Don't worry about your pic being different!

I agree with the posts below, I think its whatever pictures are ones that you like of your family, regardless of when in the year you took them.

It's also true that most of the people you send cards to haven't seen you or your family in a while and enjoy any pictures!

This is one of the only years that I have actual Christmas pictures on the card, and it's mostly because one of my friends recently became interested in photography and is "practicing" on my kids/family.

Not at all...our friends last year did sort of a collage type thing...since they took a trip, had a baby they did one of them on their trip together a couple from when their son was born and then on of all three of them. From all different times of the year.

I think it's cool to go with ones from different times.

Ours this year was one of my son & I one his 1st day of school, my husband & him on his 1st day of school & then one of all of use doing something in the summer. I say why does it have to be Christmas related? It's nice to see what people have done in the summer/spring/fall. Go for it!

I think my favorite card/pictures have been the beach scene, and Hawaiian sunsets, and my neighbor in her kayak on the river.

I don't think it's strange. I've received two so far and one has the family in shorts and T's on a cruise and the other, the couple is on the beach. Mine, which will get mailed soon, has a family pic taken in Aug - we're all wearing short sleeves standing outside.

I'm going to be grinch-y and say, I have seen them before but personally would never do them.

I live up north, so that might influence my opinion. But i think if i couldn't get a cute seasonal pict of the kids i would just do regular cards not photo cards, But that is just me, Had to share though because i feel so strongly about it.

I got beach pictures on a Christmas card from friends last year...and they were really cool looking. I think it's fine whatever you want to put on it.
