Here's a little background on my situation first:
My DD is from my first marriage. When my husband & I got together he told me that he wasn't able to have children because of an issue earlier in his life. Long story short, back in February of '08 he had a second vasectomy reversal (the first one he had wasn't done properly). In October his analysis came back with normal levels - not a high count, but normal. Then in February of this year they came back with a lot higher count - motility was only a little higher than normal.

So, this October it'll be a year since his levels have returned to normal, and so far we haven't been able to conceive. I started doing the ovulation kits for a couple months in the beginning, but stopped for a while. I stopped working at the end of May and now I'm doing the ovulation kits again and we're focusing on trying. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we should focus on or try in order to optimize our chances of conception? I know I've read other requests along these lines before, but I can't seem to locate them right now. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any advice for us. Thanks. :0)

My husband and I tried for our little boy for 8 months and nothing so we decided to take a break for a couple of months then try again after that well that first month of not trying I got pregnant. Maybe don't really try for a month or so and see what happens it worked for me. Best of luck to you.

All good advice and I especially liked the book about "Taking charge of your fertililty"-I, too, learned alot. Another thing to consider is your own anatomy. I have a posterior tilted uterus, and to keep things from getting too graphic, it took some different positions before we conceived our first. This was not suggested by my OB, although the info regarding my uterus was. So, if you haven't tried all sorts of postions, consider mixing it up! Good luck!

My Dr. suggested a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. Amazon.com has it for $16. It gave me so much information about my cycle. After reading it, I knew when I was ovulating without using a kit. It worked for us! I found it so helpful, I even loaned it to a friend.
Good Luck!

J.,
My husband and I are currently trying for #2, so I understand how you're feeling. Here are some helpful hints I've picked up after browsing many many websites:

Lie down for 15-20 after sex - this can sometimes help out weaker "swimmers"

Make sure you both are on good multivitamins. Vitamin deficiency in either of you can affect fertility levels. (I take one for women called "Eve" which also includes some herbal supplements along with all the traditional vitamins and folic acid. Some of the herbal supplements are known for increasing fertility in women - like Dong Quai, Chasteberry, and evening primrose oil.)

If you have a regular cycle, there are a few websites out there where you just type in the dates of your period and it calculates your most fertile times. This is for those women who ovulate "normally." I am not one of those middle of the month women, so we're just "having fun" at least once every 48 hours to try to catch the right day!

Some other good pointers I've read: eating regularly and healthy, drinking plenty of water, avoiding caffiene, and exercising moderately. And keep stress low. Hope all this helps!

See a reproductive endrocronologist. I would recommend Dr. Barry Witten.
