Try a neti-pot, at least for the head congestion. You can get it at any pharmacy and while you're there get some Aleve-D. You have to buy it from behind the pharmacy counter and sign for it with your drivers license, but it is the BOMB... which is probably why they make you sign for it. :-)

I will second the steam, showers and neti pot. However if you are starting an ear infection you shouldn't get it wet! So maybe run the shower and sit in the steamy bathroom. I would go to the doctor for my ear. I can't stand ear infections! Sound slike you have on brewing.

Sudafed?
Steam? (hot shower)

Sounds like a sinus infection maybe....

Steaming, steaming, and regular steaming.

Sounds like a severe sinus attack. Steam shower (try to keep your hair out of it though, you don't want to worsen the sinus). Hot towels over the face for a few minutes. Take off immediately once it cools.

And like Tatianna C. says, do the cloth-over-the-head-over-a-pot-of-boiled-water treatment. Do it 3-4 times a day. If you can bear it, rub some Vicks vaporub over your nose and sinus areas before you do this. It'll help to release vapors and help reduce congestion.

And, if your ears are hurting badly, do not try to blow your nose even if you feel the urge to. The pressure it takes to blow your nose, can worsen the ear blockage and can cause ear-aches.

If the aches worsens, consult a pharmacist or a doctor for specialised medicines to help.

Get well soon!

I had that this past winter and it took forever to go away... finally went to the doctor after more than a week (when I also started experiencing aches in my face) and got diagnosed with a sinus infection. My very first! They gave me Z-pac, a 5 day antibiotic treatment, and it did start to clear up. Then, lo! It came back again and I had it for another 4 days or so. I don't think I did antibiotics again the second time. Anyway, here is what I wished I had done differently. Lots and lots of steam treatments. Not just hot showers, but cloth-over-the-head-over-a-pot-of-boiled-water treatments. And hot towels placed on the face, lungs, etc. I also started taking a vitamin D supplement, which you probably don't need if you are spending alot of time outdoors. Most folk also take a nasal decongestant but I have trouble with those, depending on the active ingredient. Some of them make me anxious and racy. Best of luck!
