Constant BV infections--TMI

Hi ladies--I'm so embarrassed to ask this, but I am so tired of suffering! For at least 7 years I've had a constant Bacterial Vaginosis infection. Sometimes there is yeast too because once I end treatment for the BV, the yeast kicks up. I can not clear it up. I've been to so many dr--trying naturopathics (including 50billion probiotics, immunity boosters, creams, etc) and lots of prescription drugs too. My husband and I have only been with each other, so... I've tried internet solutions of cider rinses, different flushes, etc. I can not kick it. Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone had BV (and yeast) and actually gotten over it--completely?

What can I do next?

Hi! I am prone to BV also and it is miserable! A few years back, my doctor told me about some stuff called "Refresh" - you can buy it a Walmart for $14.00 and you get 4 vials. It balances the PH of the vagina and restores freshness - and you can use it anytime, every couple of days or so. It has helped me tremendously and I swear by it!! Try it! Good luck!

Check your Vit D blood levels, there seems to be a connection between recurrent BV and low Vit D levels

I was getting these for a while. Make sure you finish your antibiotic, and also do NOT have sex while you have one. Your husband will just give it right back to you and it just keeps going back and forth. And I liked the "Refresh" idea. I might try that myself. Good luck!

have you tried cutting out sugar (including excess white carbs), yeast (bread) and alcohol from your diet? this is really the way to get rid of persistent yeast imbalances and has helped me a lot. after a few weeks you can introduce these things slowly back into your diet, but try not to go overboard ever again. hope this helps. 7 years is a long time to be so uncomfortable!

have you treated your husband? i know with yeast infections the man can be a carrier and pass it back and forth if not treated. for the yeast problem, drink the vinegar! if you like pickles and dont have heart problems and can deal with the salt content, just eat pickles every day and your yeast problems should go away. or drink the vinegar with a little honey or just chug it. a couple tablespoons a day should do the trick. about the BV, i have no idea other than your husband may be giving it back to you. good luck!

When we lived over in Germany, everytime I took a bath, I got BV. So, I had to quit taking them, or I knew I would have to get a script. My dr gave me a big bottle of pills so I wouldn't have to go in all the time. Flagyl, that was the meds I took. I didn't really have many issues with YI after.
My advice, if you take baths, stop and make sure the meds you are taking are flagyl for the BV. If these are things you already do, sorry I couldn't help.
Since we moved back to the states, I do bathe and haven't had the issue, but I do often clean my tub.
Good luck!

I was going to suggest researching how to balance your vaginal PH too. In other words, how to create a less hospitable environment.

Does our gyn have any suggestions?

Good luck.

Hi--
You might want to do a yeast cleanse--I did it. Six weeks of no sugar at all--not even fruit, but the cycle finally ended. You might also want to try Neuro-emotional technique (NET)--chronic issues are always related to emotions. Typically yeast is related to insecurity and shame. If you do not work through the emotions, the physical manifestation will keep coming back. If this resonates with you I can talk you through it further, but I don't want to bore you if it doesn't make sense to you. I can say that I've been there, done that :-) and I'm good now.
Good luck!

I wish I had some help! This totally sounds like me, when the doctor treats the BV she then will give me Diflucan to take after wards because she said the medication for the BV can cause a yeast infection just like other medications can. I get them so often it is miserable. I hope to find some good advice as well.
