Leave- in-Conditioner. I used Nexxus Headress, my aunt who is a hairdresser suggested it, and it was gone in a few days it seemed.

All 3 of my girls had it when they were babies, I used to wash their hair and use a soft toothbrush to brush at it, and put a little baby oil on. (I hate baby oil, but it seemed to help) Good luck!

My Daughter had cradle cap also. I used J&J baby shampoo when I washed her hair. Somebody told me that baby shampoo was actually harsh on their little scalps and to use regular shampoo. I started using whatever moisturizing shampoo I used on my own hair and it went away instantly and never came back. I have always used my products on her and never had any problems and I use several different brands.

My 3 1/2 month son had it...Well all 4 of my children did! I actually got a soft scrub brush from the Hospital when I had my last child...and it worked great for the cradle cap! And all I had to do was use regular baby shampoo and scrub it with that brush! Sometimes it takes a couple of times! If your daughter has it REAL bad! Then you can use some baby oil and rub it on her head and leave it on for 5-10 mins and then use a soft brush to brush it off, or a cloth! after using the oil shampoo her hair and leave the shampoo on for a few mins or wash it a couple of times, to get rid of the oil residue! But that should work! I hope that helps you!
Have a Blessed Day!

J.,

My 4 month old daughter is going through the same thing right now. I've found baby oil works best, and I apply it with a cotton ball so it doesn't drip all over her head. Afterwards, I use a soft baby hairbrush to gently massage her scalp and loosen the flakes. It works. Her cradle cap kept recurring, and her doctor told me that baby bath/shampoo could be drying, but not to worry, cradle cap often reoccurs in babies her age. Now I apply the oil to her scalp right after her bath and it does help to keep the outbreaks down. Good luck!

hey J. my name is A. and my son james had craddle cap bad. i actually found that the baby wash/shampoo was drying my sons scalp. I switched to dove shampoo and as soon as i got him out the tub i put baby oil in his hair and befor i put his shirt on I dried his hair with the towel. my son has never had craddle cap since. I even asked the doctor and a few nurses and they said the dove nor the baby oil would hurt him. Give it a try. good luck

My don had it, I just rubbed vaseline on the affected areas once a day and after his baths and it went away pretty quickly. You can also rub it off, but if it gets too flaky the vaseline works really well and you don't have to use a lot

Thanks for asking the question! My son has it BAD and my first never had it. We bought the shampoo and that hasn't done much. I have put olive oil on his head and that seemed to work temporarily. But I never thought about using the comb and oil. I will do that next. Thankfully the cradle cap isn't harmful is just is not that appealing.

Rub olive oil into the scalp, let it sit for a while, the longer the better (even overnight).
Then take a comb similar to the Nit combs (for lice) and comb through her hair, the crusty skin should come right off with no irritation or pulling. If you don't have a Nit comb or don't want to buy one, a regular comb works too, but it's more work. Give her a good shampoo after, if she will tolerate it. This is more to remove extra skin, don't worry about getting all the oil out.

Massaging her scalp regularly with warm water should keep it at bay, shampoo will aggravate the condition unless it is a gentle olive oil based one (these are usually sold in health food stores.)

Hello.
My son, 35 mth., had craddle cap really bad when he was a baby. He had very thick hair, so it was hard to get it all out. But baby oil is what I was told to use, and it worked. I just dabbed some on with a Q-tip and rubbed it in a little and combed the flakes out. I usually did this before he got a bath, so I didn't have baby oil all over his sheets and things. He still gets a few patches of it now.

I tried olive oil, baby oil, etc... and it would go away for a little bit, and then her head was all greasy.

I got some cocoa butter (the kind in a little tub) and tried it, and it went away and never came back.

baby lotion, vaseline, cocoa butter. Also, ask your pharmacist or pediatrician for suggestions.

if you use baby oil on her hair and use a comb to softly comb it away. the baby oil kelps to losen the gooky stuff so it is easier to comb out.

Hey there! My daughter had cradle cap when she was first born and my doctor told me something totally different than what the other mothers are saying. My doctor told me to use Selsun Blue Moisturizing Shampoo and it seemed to work well. It got rid of it and I was glad because the shampoo made her hair smell like an old man's hair and not that normal clean baby smell we all love. I'm glad I didn't have to use it very long. Also, as another mother said, there is a Cradle Cap Treatment you can buy by Gentle Naturals (I think that's the company) and I bought some of that to try since the shampoo was kind of stinky but wound up not needing it at all because it was gone in no time. I hope this helps you out a bit. Good Luck!

Hi J.... I used a combination of vitamin e oil and calendula. You can get both at a health food store. All three of my boys had it and it was the only thing that I found helped.

Wet her head, put a little bit of baby shampoo on her head, and brush it with a baby brush. Rinse, and repeat if necessary. Should take care of it.

Hi J.,
Baby oil is a tried and true remedy for cradle cap.
My daughter had a small patch of it at around 3 months.
I rubbed a little baby oil (mineral oil is the ingredient that works in the baby oil) onto her scalp and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes before her bath. Then I used a soft baby brush in a circular motion to remove the scales. Voila! It works like a charm and there was very minimal irritation to her skin.
And she smelled great afterward!
Good luck!
