Well, my daughter is 2 and a half now and I thought she would outgrow the cradle cap! It's not completely obvious because she does have hair - but it is very blond and I can see it. Any tips on how to get rid of it? Before she really got hair I would take baby oil and scrub gently in a circular motion with a small brush. But I don't want to put oil in her hair now and it's just gotten to the point that it is bothering me that it's there. Head and shoulders shampoo? Help!
Cradle cap is a sign of an excessive yeast over growth. Use milk of magnesia topically. Coat the scalp, let it sit and then rinse. Also, get her on a good probiotic and ease off the grains....
My almost 4 yr old still gets it some times. When I see it starting, I wash his hair a little more aggressively (not hard but enough to exfoliate his head). Then I massage in a little adult hair conditioner. Wait a couple of minutes and rinse. Usually does the trick in 1 or 2 treatments.
my daughter has it too....all new hair growth she gets its. (shes 2 also( i just pick at it when shes asleep and its almost gone....i feel like a mother monkey. lol
My son had cradle cap until he was 4. You need to use the oil to remove the scabs. Once the scalp is clear you can control build up by using a natural bristle brush and brushing her scalp well before each bath or shower. This will remove any flakes before they have a chance to built into those ugly scabs. If brushing each day does not work well enough to keep the spots at bay, you can get a medicated shampoo from your Ped to be used once a week or so.
hmmm, my daughter is almost 3 and still has it on her head. She hates when I pick at it, but sometimes after I wash her hair, I will turn on a movie and use a fine tooth comb when her hair is still wet and she'll let me brush some of it off. Much easier to remove when hair and scalp is wet-- and when a movies on. "let mommy do this or I have to turn the movie off"--I know, I'm so mean.
Subulex shampoo. My daughter had it when she was born. The pediatrician advised this stuff. It worked with in a week it was gone and never returned.

The only thing that worked for my son (and I tried diff. shampoos,oils, for years) was BEFORE shampooing I used a soft baby brush and brush in different directions including a circular motion. then shampoo as usual with regular shampoo.
Mustela shampoo for cradle cap. Possibly the current shampoo is bit too heavy for her.
Do you get cradle cap shampoo were you live that's what I used then went on to use cradle cap cream which you massage into the scalp then shampoo out after a while which I found was the best and got rid of it completely and the quickest hope this helps
I used Head & Shoulders for sensitive skin on my 3 months (per the doc's advice) and it was 100% gone with 2 uses. Easy peasy.
My daughter had cradle cap and my pediatrician recommended Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo. It was amazing. I put it in her hair, let is sit for a minute and then rinsed it out. When she got out of the bath, I used a flea comb that I bought at the pet store for a quarter and gently scraped the flakes out of her hair. The shampoo is kind of stinky and it is not tear free so you have to be careful. I used it on my son too with the same fast results.
I would try a dandruff shampoo as well. Head and Shoulder or Selsun would probably work, but yes, just be careful about getting it in her eyes. Good luck, sounds like a pain! My son's went away when he was still a baby but I considered the dandruff shampoo even then!
California Baby Shampoo. It took care of my son's within two days- no kidding. I love the stuff. You can get it at Target.
The most commonly-used treatment involves applying an oil such as baby oil, olive oil or mineral oil liberally to the child's scalp. Leave it on to soak in overnight. This will soften the scales. Next morning bathe the child and wash his hair with baby shampoo. With a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush, a comb or a cloth gently wipe the softened flakes away.
*It may take several days of this treatment before the scales are entirely gone. * Do not use pressure or try to peel off the scales with your fingernail. This could damage the underlying skin.
* Some parents claimed good results with a product called "Cradle Cap Care" by Gentle Naturals, which was purchased at Walmart for about $7.00.
Cautions:
If you have tried the above remedies without noting improvement, consult a doctor. Do not use adult anti-dandruff shampoos without a physician's advice, because they contain harsh ingredients which can irritate tender scalp and hurt the child's eyes.
Use the oil again. It wont hurt her and it will loosen the dry skin.
I had the same problem with my daughter and son. Cradle cap was much harder to get rid on in my son because his hair started to thicken when cradle cap was at its worst. I talked with my peditrician about it after the baby oil wasn't an option anymore. To my surprise he told me to use Head & Shoulders shampoo. Before bed and I'd comb his hair with a comb to help remove any loose scales. After about two weeks almost all of my son's cradle cap was gone. Good luck with your daughter!
My son is 18 months old and still has some cradle cap, also. He has long, thick, blondish hair, so I usually just leave it alone b/c I can't see it. I have had luck with Selsum Blue , when I care to use it.
Our pediatrician told me I could <carefully> use Selsun Blue when my son was an infant. It really worked for him. Just be careful of her eyes.
