So What Happened?

"Thank you all for the info. and advice. I have been following the routine of applying olive oil on my baby's scalp and massaging her head really well while I nurse her and in the process removing the cradle cap.She loves the massaging part and falls asleep while I do that.I also cover her head with a cap when I finish nursing.I follow this procedure once everyday. The cradle cap still appears the next day but in lesser quantity than what used to show previously.I understand that it will disappear completely over time and really dont worry about it anymore now realising that this is a common problem faced by moms. After hearing all your experiences it feels so good to have a lot of options incase it worsens and I thank everyone for that.

Try some natural coconut oil. It is thick and does not smell so great but it really works. Once you clear the cradle cap rub just a little on her head everyday to keep it moist.

Cradle cap is yeast/candida. I used a great product typically used to cure Thrush/yeast on the diaper area. It worked great in just a few days. You might be able to buy it at Wholefoods. http://www.motherlove.com/product_diaper_rash_relief.php
Good luck!

Do the olive oil treatment, put a cap on her head and leave it on overnight, then shampoo and brush her scalp the next morning :)

My doctor told me to use baby oil. I did that and also used a green bottle sold at walgreens. It had a picture of baby winnie the pooh and piglet! Also use a mild shampoo on her like Johnsons and Johnsons! Good luck!

My son had it bad when he was a few months old. I used Natures Care Cradle Cap stuff ( has baby winnie the pooh on it).. I found it at Walmart. You put it on the head, use a comb to loosen it up, and then wash it out. It doesnt smell that great, but it really worked great!

I used the stuff ( cant remember the name ) It has Winnie the pooh on the front and it is a green bottle it worked great. She has not had it since. Oh I also had to use a comb to pull it out once it was washed.

Hi S.,

My daughter had some really serious cradle cap (and a ton of hair) when she was a baby. Baby oil worked for most of it, but I also used a product that they sell at Babies R Us (Sorry I can't remember the name) that is a shampoo for Cradle Cap, in a greenish-blue bottle.

I found that it worked to keep it in as long as possible. Just keep an extra blanket under her so that it doesn't get all over place.

Good Luck!
M.
