My 8 week old has a little bit of cradle cap around the sides and back of her hair. I have a shampoo set that includes a comb, shampoo, lotion and hair gel. It worked for my 1st daughter, but I am not sure if it is going to work for my newbie. I am using it, but I am curious to know what others are/have used for cradle cap. Please share your experiences Thank you

OK, there is a foam shampoo for new borns that I LOVED! It smelled SO GOOD and lasted for 5 months. His cradle cap went away quickly, but I loved the smell of it so much that I continued using it. Here is a link:

I would put it in and comb it through...or you can "scrub" it in with the brush and rinse.

Good luck!

Renew Lotion by Melaleuca works great! It is an effective treatment for severely dry skin associated with craple cap, excema or psoriasis. As well as just excessive dry skin. I use it for my hands and feet and I love.

If you don't know how to shop with Melaleuca (The Wellness Store), let me know and I can help you get a customer account.

Good Luck!

There's this fantastic lotion called Calendula Cream made by California Baby that works wonderfully. It helps with cradle cap, eczema, and other skin irritancies. You should be able to get it at most health food stores. I purchased is at Healthy Approach Market in Colleyville. They have a sister store in Fort Worth called the Sunflower Shoppe. Good luck!

you need to use selsun blue. Scrub it with the little brush. It works good. we use it at the daycare when the parents ask us what to do.

i used baby oil with both my kids. just put it all over their head and use a baby brush to gently brush flakes away. for both my kids it only took 1 or 2 weeks to completely go away

pure and simple BABY OIL. rub it in and wait about 10 to 15 minutes, then give the baby a shower, use any shampoo on the hair, the flakes all fall off as you rinse the shampoo out because the baby oil has loosened them already. do this repeatedly and in about 1 week, you will see a dramatic change.

I have heard of several of the methods mentioned and tried the baby oil with my son, but it just did not work. I had gotten a little really soft plastic brush from the hospital (they had used it to get the yuck out of his hair) and decided to try that to brush away the cradle cap. WOW!! Did that little brush ever work. When my daughter was born I didn't receive one from the hospital and could not find one anywhere when she developed cradle cap. I finally found one at CVS. It's just a little soft plastic scrub brush looking thing about the size of a bar of soap. When I washed their hair I would do the lathering with the brush and after the bath, I would again brush their hair with it in a circular motion to futher help loosen it and brush it out of the hair.

I have always used baby oil. Just rub it in her hair and let is soak in for a while. A while later give her a bath and rinse it all out. It has always worked for me!

What worked quickly and easily for both my son and my best friend's son: just baby oil! I'd put a little oil in his head and gently rub it in. Wait a few minutes and gently comb his hair: the flakey stuff just comes right off. It took once for my friend's son, 3 or 4 times (waited a few days between) for my son's head, and that was all.
