My son walked before he crawled! He would scoot all over the place, was really quite good at doing it fast, and then at 10 months, stood up and walked!
My son will be nine months the 29th and he's still not crawling yet, has anyone else had this with their babies? He had multiple ear infections for seven months and had tubes put in one month ago, could this be why? I'm working with him but he's still not getting it. He has no teeth yet either.
Thank you everyone for your responses!! :-) I'm not as worried, he does scoot just no crawling yet, a little 6 month old at his daycare started crawling all over the place last week that what when I started to question when he should start crawling, I can't remember when my eight year old started, but thank you all for your reassuring responses. :-)

My daughter was 11 months before she ever moved out of a sitting position. She walked 2 months later. I wouldn't worry. as for the teeth, none of my 3 children had any teeth before 12 months of age.
Good Luck.
My kids didn't crawl until 10 months with teeth at 11 months.....relax and enjoy the little time left of him being non-mobile....the rest happens quickly.
Don't worry! My son will be one next week, and just got the whole crawling thing two weeks ago! He literally went from not moving at all to crawling all over the place in just a few days. Lukily he is my third so I wasn't too worried! And he didn't get his first teeth until around 8 1/2 months, and then got 4 more when he was around 10 months, so your son sounds just like mine!
My first child did not crawl until 10 months. I guess he didn't need to as I carried him everywhere and got him everything he needed. He was running by 12-1/2 months and climbing ladders at 15 months.
First child again didn't get teeth until 10 months. Amazing what can be eaten without them. Second child got teeth at 4 months. How strangely different.
I wouldn't worry yet.
My son didn't crawl until late into his 9th month. He started walking at 10 months. The Ped. suggested moving most his toys slightly out of reach so that he had to work to get them and give him lots of time on the floor. Each child developes differently and the milestones are guidelines, not everything has to be accomplished by a certain timeframe. At 10 months we were grateful he didn't have teeth yet--nothing to bust as he toppled over! He got teeth by his first birthday. Best of Luck.
While I wouldn't worry about the fact he isn't crawling, the fact that he's had multiple ear infections is something you can manage to overcome. I'm guessing he has had antibiotics more than once or twice. Your son may really benefit from a healthy dose of probiotics to replenish his gut and avoid future ear infections and digestive issues. It took me almost 5 years to figure out the issue (systemic yeast) for my daughter and clearing it has also cleared her chronic ear infections, allergies and asthma. We've been a year now without any recurrances. Feeling better physically will certainly have an affect on his development.
Hi M., its a good possiblity that he is just alil behind cuz of the ear infections. does he scoot? if he scoots, don't worry bout it. my lil boy didn't crawl for the longest time, he just scooted, then boom! it was like he skipped the crawling stage and went right to walking. i know they have time charts when for when children begin certain stages in their life, and they are great, and nice lil brag sheets sometimes :) but remember, they are just approximates( bad spelling there), most things listed on those time sheets, you have about 2 months give ot take. well i hope i helped alil. GL and god bless.
It's way too early to worry yet. Many kids don't start until 9 or 10 months. Many kids never crawl at all - at least not the traditional hands and knees method. My son 'army crawled' on his forearms and didn't start the hands & knees thing until a week before he walked (at 12 months). Can he get himself from one end of the room to the other? If not, I wouldn't worry at all.
How much free floor time does he get. He should be on the floor pretty much all day except for naps and meals - not sitting in the carseat or exersaucer half the day. Scatter toys around, just out of his reach to encourage him to move. And don't worry... before you know it (when he's doing the crazy whirlwind toddler thing running non-stop through the house all day) you'll be remembering this time and wondering why on earth you were so impatient to have him move. :-)
As for teeth... normal range goes until 18 months for a first tooth. None of my kids had a single tooth until the week after their 1st birthday. It does NOT affect how/what they can eat. Babies can mash pretty much anything with their gums. Even those babies who get front teeth at 6-8 months old rarely get back teeth that early -- and that is what is used for chewing. Front teeth are just for taking bites off. So just cut everything into pea-size bits and put on his plate so he can pick them up and feed themselves. All our toothless kids were 100% self-feeding themselves whatever the rest of the family was eating at meals by 9-10 months old.
Neither of my boys crawled until 10 months and didn't walk until 14 months. Your son is still well within the normal timeframe for those milestones!
My son just started crawling around 9 months even though most of the other babies I knew were crawling much earlier. He was walking by a week after his 1st birthday and is doing great now. I've met other kids who weren't crawling until 10-11 months, and they're fine, too. You should have a well-baby appt at 9 months. If the doctor's not worried, I wouldn't worry either. Just make sure he's getting lots of floor time and not constrained in a carseat or swing or exersaucer or whatever all the time, and then the rest is kind of up to him.
My son didn't crawl till he was over 9 months, starting with the army crawl. He took his first steps two days before his first birthday and was running shortly thereafter.
My nephew NEVER crawled. He scooted on his butt fast as lightning and then went to puling up and walking. My niece didn't walk till she was 15 months, but she was prctically delivering soliloquies before that.
They're all different. I wouldn't worry yet. :)
I see there are lots of stories out there but thought I would send mine just to reassure you. My daughter didn't crawl until 13 months and didn't walk until 16 months. The doctors could find nothing wrong with her. At age 7 you can't keep her still. She's one of the most active kids you'll ever meet. Good luck!
Hi M.
Sounds like your son is pretty normal to me. My older son didn't crawl until after he learned to walk and that was at 1 year of age. He also didn't get his first tooth until about 9 or 10 months of age. And remember, every child is different.
Boys generally move slower than girls. Remember what is normal for one child is not necessarily normal for another. If you are really concerned talk to his doctor. There are tests that can be run to see if he has delay problems.
Each child is so different. My oldest started crawling at 10.5 mos. (and walked at 15 mos.) and my baby started crawling at 8.5 mos. I know several children who never crawled. I definitely wouldn't worry about it. In the meantime, relax - You don't have to chace him around everywhere!
Try not to worry about the crawling...especially at 9 months. Some babys never crawl. Is he rolling over? does he sit without support? does he look like he is progressing. I think that is the best way to judge progress. Also with the multiple ear infections...that wont be a reason he is not crawling but he was not feeling good for a long time and didnt get that "tummy time" that could have prolonged some milesones.
and for teeth. My baby girl just turned 9 months and her first tooth is barely coming up over the gums. You cant see it but you can feel it. and the teeth..they WILL come. Every person gets teeth. Teeth patterns usually follow the parents pattern..so if you were a late teether then you child will likey be one.
BabyCenter has a good website for this...check it out

Good luck
He sounds much like my second grandson, who is now 15 mos and just starting to try to take steps alone. He did not crawl until almost a year. He only had 2 bottom teeth at one year also. Just make sure you are giving him opportunities to try to crawl- put on floor with toy out of reach. I've always been told it is better if they don't get their teeth until later; their adult teeth last longer that way.
I have two stories to share:
1) my daughter took forever to start crawling - but once she did start crawling...she almost immediately went to walking - almost skipping the crawling phase. She was 10 months old when she started walking. So don't worry too much about crawling :-)
2) my cousin's daughter had a number of ear infections during her first year and didn't pass a hearing test until she was 1 year old. She was almost 16 months old when she finally started walking. I'm convinced that it was because of the chronic ear issues. I'm sure her equilibrium was off becuase of them - making it extremely difficult to balance and start walking earlier.
I'd really try not to worry about it because every child is truly different...but I would mention it to your pediatrician just in case.
Hope these two stories help :-)
Hi M.! Don't worry, both my boys did not start crawling until 10 months old and walked by 15 months old. According to the norm, I guess that is considered "later" than most children, but everyone is different. They are both very healthy and developing normally. Your son may even skip the crawling phase all together and go straight to walking! Hang in there, he will be mobile before you know it!
My son was 10 months when he sterted crawling and walked only a month later. He is now 16 months and is running and jumping and getting into everything. Every baby develops at a different rate so I don't think you have anything to worry about. And once they start moving, it's all over for us parents! Enjoy the peaceful immobile stage as long as you can!
Never fear! My son didn't crawl until 10.5 months and walked at 13.5 months. I am watching a little girl who is 1 who is not crawling or walking either. Every child is different and moves at their own pace. Definitely talk with your doctor at his 1 year appt if still no progress to see what they say. As for teeth, those come in a various ages, every child is different there too....so not to worry! I have had plenty of friends whose kids didn't get any teeth until after a year, its amazing what they can eat without teeth!
neither one of my boys (I have 2) crawled until about 12-14 months old. I wouldn't worry about the crawling.I would think he should be getting some teeth by now even if they are just little ones pooking through. You can always take him to a children's dentist and see if they can do an x-ray to see if there are any under the gums ready to come up.
Some babies never crawl. They go straight from lying on their bellies to standing and walking. So I really wouldn't worry about it. Also, my good friend's son just got his first tooth and he's 10 and a half months old. ^_^ I think you just need to be a bit more patient.
