I am looking for creative ways to tell my husband when we get pregnant. When we do it will be our 3rd and last and I want to do something special, other than just telling him. Let me know some of your creative ideas.

So What Happened?

Sorry I didn't give you long to give me ideas but I took a test and it was positive and I just couldn't wait another day. Since all the stores have Valentine stuff out and my husband's favorite candy is turtles, I bought a box and put the test inside. I also got him a cute little lamb card and wrote inside that he was a daddy again. The look on his face was priceless. The lamb card confused him but when he read it he was so happy. Now we have to deciede how to tell the extended family. For me that will be hard because my sil just announced she is pregnant as well and we will have almost the same due dates. It's their first so I want it to be special for her and not take away from it. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I have a family friend who's mother baby sits for her kids. For her second baby's announcment she put a shirt on her daughter that said "I'm the older sister" It took her mom a minute to get it, but she didn't have to say it, and everyone got a good laugh. Congratulations

This is too late to use on your hubby, but you could use it on the rest of the family (I did). I bought a few baby things (like a bottle, pacifier, toy) and wrapped them up. Then when I gave the person the package I said "the rest of the package will be arriving in February." They really liked it!

You asked for it L....
Make the evening special, get prettied up...
Cut a hundred stars out of different colors of construction paper and put them on the ceiling (If it is a popcorn ceiling you will need that carpet tape or fat double side tape.)
Then put Starbursts all over the bed and a few on the floor leading him into the bedroom.
Post a Hand made sign on the bed to the effect that he's the shining star in your life and give him
the news explaining you will have a new star soon.
Cheers!

I thought it was a cute Idea when one of the Gals at my work bought a gift bag, put a little outfit in it with the pregnancy test at the bottom and gave it to him that way.

maybe you could dress your youngest child now in a shirt that says they are going to be a big brother/sister and the approximate date that will happen. Good luck to you!

set the table for 5?

Casually mention something like: "Because after the baby comes, we'll need a bigger car ..."

Send him a pre-birth announcement -- at work.

L.,
I wanted to do this so badly for my husband but I couldn't keep my mouth shut long enough to pull it off. Call Cookies by Design and have them send a cookie bouquet with both pink and blue baby stuff (they're really cute). Instead of the card saying it's a boy or girl, It can say "It's a BABY" And have them deliver it to his office. It's like flowers but men like them better!! Congratulations!

Put newborn diapers in with his underwear drawer & baby socks in with his socks. He'll find them as he's routinely getting ready for his day, & it will take him by surprise!

CONGRATULATIONS! I think it's great that you wanted to do something special to surprise your husband. A baby is great news and a great surprise, even when it's planned for. Since you've already told him I assume the rest of us are sharing ideas for family or other people who may want ideas.

My husband and I had been trying for 11 months. When I finally found out I was pregnant, I think he had almost forgot. It was 6 days before Christmas. Even though I wanted to run upstairs and tell him, I thought that I would never have a better opportunity for the best Christmas gift ever. We traditionally opened one gift on Christmas-eve. I bought cute little Swarofski crystal baby booties and put them in a box. I put a hand written note on the top that said, "Oh Boy (or Girl)! Ready or not, here we go". He was completely surprised and delighted. Then I had bought Precious Memories figurines for the grandparents. We had them open them last the next morning, Christmas Day. My husband loved being in on surprising our parents just as he was surprised. The screaming and tears of joy was "priceless". Keeping that secret for 6 days was incredibly difficult and precious at the same time. However, it was well worth it. I talked to my "little baby" as if he (now 5 years old) was helping me with the surprise. He ended up being the only baby we could have so I'm especially glad that he was announced in a way that is as special as he turned out to be for us...but then again, all babies are special and a miracle. They all deserve huge "welcome parties" whatever that might be. Again, Congratulations and Enjoy!

I had my then 13-month-old son tell his dad we were expecting. I had taken the test in the morning and then went to the craft store to pick up a plain t-shirt and fabric paint. Then I wrote "Big Brother - March 2005" on the shirt. When my husband came home from work, my son was wearing the shirt and gave the test to his daddy. He read the shirt before he realized our son was handing him a positive pregnancy test. My husband was in utter shock because he didn't expect it, he was sure I'd just "tell him." We also had our son wear the shirt to a family dinner to make the announcement. The look on everyone's face when they read the shirt was just thrilling.

A friend of mine met her husband for lunch one day and when he wasn't looking, she slipped the positive test next to his plate. She said when he looked back, he immediately looked at the test and then practically jumped out of his chair.

Good luck! Let us know how you decided to tell him when it comes time to make an announcement!

I think your family will be thrilled to hear that you are pregnant again, and I bet it will be fun to be pregnant at the same time with your SIL. Since it will be her first pregnancy there will be all kinds of questions and concerns she'll have and who better than to share that with than you. I think it will be a very positive thing.

Congradualations!

With our last baby I put the test strip on a nice card and taped it on the mirror in our bathroom. Of course I wrote a love note. But I knew he would look there when he got home and I got a great reaction. It was suttle and a little diffrent.
