Creative Way to Transport/prepackage Cupcakes Baked in Ice Cream Cones

I haven't tried it yet but several online websites recommended getting a pizza box (like pizza hut) and cutting holes for the ice cream cones. They said this is the only way they got them to not tip over.

I remember my Mom crying when I was about 4 years old because she was trying to transport some to my sister's class for her birthday. They just kept toppling over.

I saw in Real Simple a suggestion that looked pretty reasonable. Take a gift box (like the ones you use for shirts at the holidays) and cut x's in the top (to the size of the opening) and put the cones in there. it will keep them from falling over and get them where you need to go safely and securely.

I have no clue what you could put them in, but I do know these sound precious!!! Can you send me directions on how you make them, please? Sounds like something my kids would adore!!! =0) You moms are so super crafty! I LOVE it!

My first thought:

Go to the grocery store and get a couple boxes. Use one box to cut out flat piece (that would fit inside the other box) Cut out openings for bottom of the cones on same flat piece. Think flat piece of cardboard with rows of evenly spaced circles...does that make sense?

That way you could stand them up and they would be supported and not fall over. Might work

I crumple clean tissue paper into balls, so I can stand the cones in my rectangle tupperware cake container -- using the tissue paper between all the cones and the sides of the container. You'll need to crumple the paper well, so it doesn't expand and "hit" the frosting.

I clicked on your question because I wanted to know an answer. There's got to be something easier than thick boxes at the grocery store. I searched and found the following suggestion, which sounds easier to cut. Good luck: Take two empty cereal boxes and put them on their backs, so that the fronts of the boxes are up. Cut 12 circles in each box, big enough to fit the cones in. Place the finished cupcakes in the holes and put the cereal boxes into a bigger, shallow cardboard box. Worked great!

What about a cupcake "case"? I've seen them (and own one) at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. I think Rubbermaid makes it. it's a carrying case that is made to hold 24 cupcakes and has a snap-on lid. I think the holes would be small enough to hold onto your icecream cones too. I just don't know if the lid would fit as they may be too tall.

My kids love these, too! Whenever I have to bring these somewhere, I don't frost them in advance and just lay them on their side until we get there. I have spent many afternoons standing behind my crossover vehicle with the hatch open frosting cupcake cones so they are frosted when I walk in the event :) I have thought about building somthing or checking out Tupperware to see if they have something that would work, but never got around to it. I did check out a closing ice cream shop years ago to see if they had something . . . it sold before I got there so that might be an idea? Check out the local D.Q. for ideas.

I was wondering if you could send me a RECIPE to make these? My mom and I used to make these when I was a little girl - I would love to do this with our dd's now! ;0)

Also, I wonder if you take an empty egg carton - turn it upside down and cut holes into it, if that would work? Maybe it would be too heavy, Im not sure???

I def. think a pizza hut box would work though!
