Good morning i have a silly but odd question for ya.... My 5 1/2 month old son loves mickey mouse clubhouse..... I know i'm not suppose to let a lil one watch tv that young but honestly its no more then 10 mins a day just during the time i shower ..... So awhile back i sat my son in his swing so i could run thru the shower and MMCH just happened to be on. This became a daily thing bc he laughs and talks to the show the whole time but i would rather him be laughin then mad bc i put him in his walker while taking a shower without something to keep him entertained.... so i had to go outta town for 2 weeks for work and my dear husband used MMCH alil to much while i was gone. When i returned home i think my son is addicted lol we can be in the kitchen and hear the hot dog song came on and my son will start kicking and laughing and looking around haha its actually very cute but im afraid of him being one of those kids who cannot do anything to be happy but watch tv..... do ya agree on a few mins of MMCH so i can shower and get ready every morning? O hubby leaves for work earlier then i do so thats why he doesnt entertain him while im in the shower.. :)

What can I do next?

My 16 month old LOVES MMCH. I'm redoing his bedroom right now in Mickey Mouse. I ordered online some Mickey wall decals (they stick on and come off easily) from Sensory Edge. I am going to stick some on my little guys ceiling so that when he looks up after he gets up from his nap, he'll see Mickey:) Mickey is cool:)

Let him watch it. My DS has been addicted to that show since he was about 10 months, he is now 22 months. Its a educational show, my son actually learned how to count to 3 from MMCH, and how to do the hotdog dance. The worst thing that will happen is you will get the dang hotdog song stuck in your head, or in my case, I can narrarate the whole show beginning to end because I have seen every episode a million times while watching it with my son.

I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with letting your little one watch MMCH everyday. Its just one show, not like he's sitting in front of the TV all day. You aren't turning him into a couch potato.

My daughter watched TONS of TV... all hand picked shows and most of the time with me watching them with her. She's gotten so much information, learned 2 other languages and is excelling in her small Kindergarten class (and is the youngest).

As long as the program is beneficial and not fluff (like yucky spongebob, and other tween cartoons), I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I don't think there is anything wrong with you doing your best to make sure your son is happy and safe while you shower. BUT, watch out, my youngest son was also a MMCH addict, and when we left him at MIL's house for a trip once and she didn't have Disney-she ran all around trying to find a video with no luck :) If you have to have a babysitter outside of your home, make sure to have a DVD/tape for them!

My oldest loved Dora. I remember one night when she was around 5 months old and up with a fever and nothing was making her happy, Dora it was. We watched Dora however long she wanted that night because it was the only thing in that moment that made her happy.

My youngest loved My friends Tigger and Pooh
My nephew loved the Wiggles
My niece loved Backyardigans

All of them as infants used to love the opening song and dance to their favorite show just as you have stated about your son.

All of these kids are grown, the youngest being mine at 3 years old, and all of them MUCH prefer to be outside than watching TV. I wouldn't worry so much if I were you.

My 9 month old LOVES MMCH too! I started sitting him down on the floor when he was a few months younger so he could be entertained while drinking his bottle so I could pack up my car and get all my last min things done before we head out the door. Once in a while Special Agent Oso or Handy Manny is on but he doesn't give that the attention that he gives MMCH. He loves that show! I don't think there's anything wrong with it and I don't feel guilty about it. It's not like my son is sitting in front of the tv for hours. It's just for that show. Or, if we're playing, I'll put it on in the background for the songs.

Letting them watch shows like MMCH or Dora or any other educational show is fine. It's the brain dead cartoon ones that don't teach anything that you have to watch out for like beavis and butthead. MMCH makes learning fun and stimulating for our little ones so it is really like preschool on tv. Those songs are catchy for a reason so they can stick in their heads. It also doesn't hurt to reinerate the lessons they learned in real life like pointing out shapes in street signs or numbers on addresses. Don't stress yourself out too much we all do the best we can with what we've got. Have a good shower...
