Does anyone know who to keep a Wilton cake liner from turning dark during baking. What is the point of buying the pretty liners, if you can't see the design.

Thanks moms

So What Happened?

I used white cake mix for the princess liners. Then frosted them with really white frosting and sprinkle them with pink and white little balls. Add a huge ring from $ store and matching cupcake pic and was a big hit.

Then for chocolate cup cakes I used a white cupcake and used cookies and frosting, etc to make monkey cupcakes. Big hit.

Thanks for the help.

I am not sure about a wilton cake liner, but the generic ones seem to do pretty well. sometimes, if you double line stuff- like put a paper liner over the foil liner or put a cheap-o paper liner over the pretty liner, it will work. But also when baking, remember that the liners absorb the oil and stuff, so they will get that look to them, too. Try using a wax coated liner or a double lined cup cake.
Hope this helps.

Cheap foil liners for the inside, then your fancy liners on the outside.
Also, if you decorate them pretty, they won't notice the wrapping.
I pipe the frosting on fancy with a decorative tip, then use a spray on colour to on top to dress them up, then put on an inexpensive toy that matches the theme of the party.
Example, I made a pirate theme for a friends boy, using skull rings, chocolate "pirate coins" and laminated prints of "infamous pirates and pirate ships". Before I laminated them, I put custom greetings on them so they had a keepsake from the party. The frosting was sprayed with blue and graham cracker crumbs rolled on one side to mimic water and sand. Good luck to you dear.

I have always heard that the pretty liners only work well with white cake and not with chocolate, since you can never see the design. I decided to skip the liners this year (since we love choc cake) and bought cute cupcake toppers instead. Last year, our toppers were finger puppets; this year they were rings.
