Detox?

My chiropractor recently recommended I do a detox. However, the program he recommended includes a huge jar of supplement that will cost $60. There's gotta be another way to do this, but there's so much incorrect or dangerous information on the internet, I'm not sure what to try or credible sources to look at. Any suggestions or ideas?

What can I do next?

Ironically, I just finished "Whole Body Cleanse". I highly recommend this cleanse. It's isn't hard to follow, it's gentle and best of all it's not an arm and leg.

I bought mine in the natural foods section of my local grocer, after a great recommendation from a health conscious friend.

I feel wonderful and didn't have to take time away from work to live in my bathroom like last time. The hardest part was 64 oz of water a day. Yes, I peed alot but didn't have painful cramping.

Please check this out, you won't be let down!

If it's the same detoxifying I did a few years ago, I would advise not to. I don't mean to be graphic but cleaning out your colon means only one thing: going to the bathroom A LOT (possibly the big 'D' word). I had severe stomach cramps all night long and pretty much had to sit in the bathroom, afraid to move. It could have just been the brand I had chosen, I don't know. But you can probably achieve the same affect by getting your fiber intake. There are fiber tablets that you can take if you don't get it in food. Good luck.

That sounds about right...yes, the supplements are 60$...but how you will feel afterwards will be worth WAY MORE THAN 60$...

Have you ever detoxed your system before? I would be very very leary of doing any detox programs off the internet...TRUST your chiropractor with this, they are trained very well in this....

I would say you need to talk to a MEDICAL doctor about something like this - I'm not sure a chiropractor would be the person to tell you what is truly healthy or not as they focus on holistic care. I'd be careful...

Hi J.!!

Detoxing is basically cleaning your colon. If you are not eliminating 2 - 3 times a day, your colon is blocked and could cause a ton of problems. Not to get gross, but basically, if you are not eliminating regularly, then the food sits in your colon. What happens to food when it sits outside in 98 degree weather? It rots. That is what the food does inside your colon. When food rots, it gets toxic and can cause all sorts of problems. They say 80% of health issues are caused from the colon. Detoxing is REALLY important.

If you go to your closest health food store and get digestive enzymes and drinkable aloe. For more info on how to take them, let me know. It is a 10 day process that will detox you as well. The biggest way to make a detox work is to eliminate your soda intake, limit your caffeine, eats TONS of fruits and veggies, and minimum protein. Also, stop eating bread, bakery items, etc. while you do it. Whole grains only or you will just need to detox all over again.

Or you can limit your diet to fruits, veggies, broth, tea and water for a week. I have a detox diet somewhere but you can google as well.

Detoxing should be done twice a year and really helps with tons of issues. Plus, it can help you lose up to 20 pounds. Do not be surprised if your face breaks out and/or you get headaches; it is the toxins coming out of your body. After a few days, you will notice an increase in your energy and the way you feel in general.

Good luck! If you have ANY question, please let me know. I have a health and nutrition business.

Look up a company called Nature's Sunshine, their web address is www.naturessunshine.com. They have a variety of clensing products. I used the Tiao He Cleanse, it is a 30 day cleanse and you can take less tablets if you stools are to soft or often.

Everyone that has heard of or dealt with this company says that they are great and have great products.

I agree with Nicole. I have heard great things about detoxing your body and a friend of mine has done it many times. Her husband is a chiro.

Honestly, there is nothing proven about this process. Most likely it would work IF you believe it will. Personally, I would save the money.

Go to your regular doctor about your concerns, and please try Physical Therapy rather than a Chiropractor. A good PT can do what a Chiropractor does, but generally has the philosophy of not making you dependent on a quick fix. And no, I'm not a PT! If you'd like some referrals to some good clinics though, please contact me.

Good luck, and if nothing else, look into a differnt Chiropractor.

I would consider the price and maybe try something cheaper from the natural foods section at the pharmacy. Honestly, there are a lot of things that might make me feel or look a little better but I still don't spend $60 on them. Is there some big reason why he wants you to do this? Are you sick?
My other thought is this. I have low bloodsugar from time to time and I would think that something like that would leave me on the floor. Laxatives had that effect on me both times I tried them. They just drained the bloodsugar out of me and I passed out. I don't know if you have low bloodsugar or not but in case you do it's something to consider.
I just don't know that any amount of great cleansing would be worth $60 to me, but that's my opinion.
Good luck,
J.

Go to curezone.com or naturalcures.com
Detox is very helpful and well worth the effort. There are many natural ways to do it, w/ things from a grocer store. What exactly are you needing the detox for? AS there are many different cleanses for each need. Hope this helps.
