DFW Beaches

I want to go camping, but since we have sporting events every weekend for the next 4-6 weeks I'm going to have to settle for a day at the lake.

I've only been to the lake around here once, Eagle Mountain lake and we were on a boat so I don't know what the beaches looked like because we didn't swim at them.

I would like to go somewhere close (1 hour drive tops) that's clean with water that's not too murky. I know, that's a tough list, but I can hope! I'm considering renting a boat for the day too, so a place with boat rentals would be nice.

Oh, and not Burger's lake, last time we went there 1/2 the group got crypto and I can't bring myself to go back.

Any recommendations?

What can I do next?

We run Adventure Day Camps on Lake Grapevine and love our home at Meadowmere Park - off Kimball Rd between Grapevine and Southlake....they have a great beach area and playground.....$5 per car to enter the park for the day....

We love to camp and hang out at Ray Roberts. It's about an hour from Keller. If you just go for the day, they have a nice man made beach area by the lake. If you'd like to camp over night, tell them you'd like beach access. We usually set up out tent and we are about 15 feet from a small beachy area (It's not man made so it's not as nice as the public area). The boys take off in their kayaks and we stay behind and play in the sun.

My in-laws live on Eagle Mtn and we have fun playing on it, but it's not my favorite swimming spot.

I "third" the Lake Ray Roberts suggestion! While you are there, you must stop by the Sharkarosa.....http://www.sharkarosa.com/.

Hi there!

Thank you for opting this question! I have been wondering the same thing.

I agree with you about Burger Lake. We went last year and actually saw feces floating in the water - twice! Ican't bring myself to go back there, either.

Have a great summer!
