Did Progesterone Help You?

Hi, ladies,
I have been TTC since 03/09. We have gotten 3 BFPs, and then 3 m/cs. I went to my OB who will be running blood tests. We also have an appointment with an RE in December. In the meantime, my OB has given me a rx for prometrium (progesterone). Has this helped anyone else get a BFP, and carry to term? By the way, we have one DD - 3 years. My Endo seems to think it will help me, but I hear there are differing opinions on this.

I had 2 miscarriages and when I got pregnant again my Dr. put me on progesterone and my daughter is now almost 5. I have 2 other daughters, almost 3 and 6 months and I swear that without progesterone I wouldn't have any of them. I had to take it through the first trimester.
Good luck to you and I hope it works for you.

I had a hard time conceiving my second daughter. I had a mc and when I became pregnant. the 3rd time, she did a blood test and put me on the supositories of progesterone. I have a healthy, baby, so it def worked. The only issue was that it made me a little sick this time because of the hormone, but totally worth it! Good luck.

Yes. My endo put me on the suppositories when I became pregnant with our son by an IUI procedure. We conceived on our own the second pregnancy. I asked my OB if I should be on progesterone and she said I didn't need it. I miscarried. Our third pregnancy, we did an IUI procedure with the endo, was put on the progesterone supp. again and carried our twins to term. The endo felt strongly that I probably would not have miscarried if I had been on progesterone.

I'm on it - natural form though, it's a cream by Arbonne. I'm not taking it to conceive - although if it helps great, not really trying right now though. But it did bring my progesertone back up or to normal? I was having other issues that are non-existent since using the cream. I put it on my forearms or chest once a day (usually at bedtime) two weeks before my period.

Best wishes to you,
M.

After 3 miscarriages, progesterone helped me have a very fullterm, healthy baby. I don't know why my other doctors didn't give it to me.???
Best Wishes

Dear Chrissy,
I'm so sorry about your loss...
I took progesterone with both of my pregnancy's for the first trimester.. My levels were very low and my doctor said if I don't take it I might not carry the baby full term. I listened and I have two very healthy boys ;-)
My girlfriend couldn't get pregnant and I told her to start using progesta-care cream and she got pregnant within 2 months ;-) I wish u all the best-A.

I wish I would have know about a natural progesterone Cream when I was having my babies. All my boys were very difficult pregnancies, I was estrogen dominant, drinking cows milk, eating beef laced with hormones. I carried one son 26 weeks, He passed away after living 9 hours. My second son was stillborn at 22 weeks, My next son I carried 32 weeks, and he is now 21. My last son was born at 25 weeks gestation. He is 16 now. I found out about estrogen dominance after my last child was born. I believe you need more progesterone natural would be better, but getting it is the biggest key to keeping a pregnancy. Good luck

Sorry to hear about your loss; I know it is difficult. My husband and me suffered from secondary infertility for years. Had 4 miscarriages. Went through all the blood tests and HSG and found out that I had two fibroids from my obgyn. Once we finally got pregnant again, we went to see a holistic doctor that placed me on three herbal pills, organic fruit & veggie pills, and progesterone cream for the first 5 months of my pregnancy to keep my fibroids under control (plus I was on bedrest for the first trimester and after that I was good to move around to do whatever.) After years of trying and losing we finally had our second baby girl in January 2009. I guess for us the progesterone cream helped us out greatly. It was just a pea size amount on the wrist once a day. I hope everything works out well for you. No worries, keep the faith it will happen for you. We are pleased to have our 16 year old and a toddler. They both are a wonderful blessing; it will happen for you soon.

It made all the difference for my daughter (in a good way.) Her Doctors recommendation, as well as her research indicated progesterone may well eliminate some of the issues that cause miscarriage.

I also recommend, you seen a Endocronoligist/Gynecologist.

I'm wishing you the best.
