Did You Know Craigslist Had Real Jobs? Where Else to Look?

I was helping a friend find a job and I found Craigslist. In between the scams were well known local businesses that included jobs with pay and benefits posted. I called my friend and gave her the name of the business whose address was listed. all I had to do was type it into Google and she knew where she was applying before getting there. She is going to start Monday IF the final interview goes right. In the meantime, what other places should she look? She could be a secretary, receptionist, or similar.

So What Happened?

She didn't pass a physical test required for one job and she was not hired for a bunch of others. She then got offered a job where her husband works because he told his boss she was let go from her job. she didn't think of applying there before. How blessed she is.

I did not know that Craigslist was a legit job hunting place til my friend forwarded HER company's listing for a job opening. I would otherwise never have thought to look.

She can look at Monster, but you have to do some wading. Careerbuilder.com is another one. Her local paper might have an online jobs section, too. She should also put her resume online for recruiters to see at those big job finding sites.

I hope your friend lands the job! If not, does she have a current, easy to read resume? She can post it on Careerbuilder. com.

I found my current part time job at the Boys and Girls Club on Craiglist. It is a free place to post as much as you like so of course businesses are going to use it!

I also used www.snagajob.com Most of the regular businesses had me use their site to apply.

Craigslist has tons of jobs and employers like to list there for admin asst type of positions, so she'll probably find a lot of great opportunities. Others are
monster.com
yahoo jobs
the classified section of your local newspaper (online classifieds will have more listings)

2 years ago I actually took a position with GREAT PAY for a poorly run company that had just opened up in Texas (they were based out of northeast) anyway they have since closed. I found the job on Craigslist. Straight up company, just poorly ran. The money was good while it lasted.

At one time myspace had job listing also. I have not checked recently, though. I would just google 'job listings' and see what comes up.

Temp/placement agencies, and Indeed.com. Careerbuilder is alright, but there are a lot of scam jobs on there, more than there are on CL, IMO. Jobing.com is good, also, but everyone uses that site, honestly.

I don't know why everyone's so down on CL. I got my awesome part time job there, and DH found a full time job on there as well. All of the jobs I've applied to have been legit.
